New Politics Subforums & Structure

hmmm... I was just thinking that not all of the posts in Politics seem to "fit" in to one of the subforums... I guess I'm just hoping and maybe *hinting* that the Marijuana Legalisation thread won't be trashed...

I'm not happy with the new forum structure. I feel like I don't know where to post. I consider myself a Republican, but the party stopped representing what I stood for 20 years ago, and I've never felt any association with Democrats. I'm basically an independant moderate who gets passionate about 3 or 4 issues and that's it. Otherwise I judge every facet of the issues individually.

At least when there was one forum, I could jump into any thread I wanted and post whatever I wanted.

And also... what about people outside of the US talkin' about politics with USAers? The International subforum explicitly EXCLUDES Americans and the American subforums are obviously meant for American politics... hmmm... *scratches head*

There used to be at least one non-American moderator on the Politics forum. I don't see her around anymore. Matter of fact, I don't see any non-American, non-conservative moderators on that forum.

And I sincerely doubt that you'll ever see any such thing on the new forums.

Well, you could go even further and have a non-American non-Conservative non-Adult moderator in me . Put a vote in or something.

I'm a conservative Republican, but I think it would be a good idea to have at least on liberal moderator for the Democrat forum, and at least one non-American moderator for the International Politics forum. It might make people feel more comfortable to post there if they knew one of the mods shared their views.

Excellent suggestion.

It's most unpleasant to be posting in a forum where the mods are looking over your shoulder and disagreeing with just about everything you write as a matter of personal principle.

Makes you wonder just how long it's going to be before they decide to flex a bit of muscle...

Oh and the party forums are guarenteed disasters unless we get a few decent moderators. The Democrat forum is already being subject to driveby postings from people with the reading comprehension skills of trained apes.

I don't think it's quite that simple, unfortunately.

And the selection criteria for moderators of the political boards appears to be controlled by a strict mandate...
