• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Grew up in church, spent my whole life up until now believing. I've had a couple weeks of downtime and just thinking about my life experiences and conversing with people on here (christians) has caused me to lose my faith. I'm not sad about it. I actually feel liberated. Ironically, christian people are the most hateful and judgemental people I've ever come across, and I'm glad I don't have to associate myself with them anymore.

How sad. It's terrible that some Christians display so much judgement and hypocracy to make one feel liberated by not being associated with them anymore. And I'm sure you will hear this more than once Dan, just because you give up on Him, doesn't mean He gives up on you.

Dan, it sounds like you have really seen and experienced a lot of crap in life. I can't imagine the difficulties you've faced.

I sincerely hope you will have more time to spend with your wife and kids between deployments, and that you will be able to bond as a family. Again, I really can't imagine your life, but I'm sure it seems unbearable at times.

Regarding another issue you have posted, I do not believe a six year old who commits suicide after loosing his parents would be condemned to hell.

It is understandable that you feel some "christians" are the most hateful and judgmental people. That is something I've seen as well. I hope you realize those posting hate filled messages on a prayer thread are most certainly not showing Christ-like love, and must be wolves in sheep clothing. I hope you get to know some Christians who are genuinely loving and compassionate, at least to realize christians are not all jerks.

ps. How was the fishing this weekend? Hope you had a chance to relax and catch some fish!

Dan, You are listening to the wrong people. Only a few days ago I was exactly where you are, and I was wrong and I admit it. I have a true story to share with everyone, especially someone who is in the same place that I was in. See my post titled This little light of mine... on this same part of the forum. Just because humans are not perfect doesn't mean that God or His word isn't. Jesus really was telling the truth, so trust him.
