  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi, I'm new here so I apoligize if I'm posting in the wrong place. I have rededicated my life to Jesus since becoming a Christian back in 1997. I desire to study scripture and let the Holy Spirit lead me to do God's will. Is there a bible study on this site? Also, I have a question maybe someone can answer. I know scripture tells us to NOT fellowship with the wicked. I don't remember the exact book of the bible that tells us that, but I know it's there. So, how does this apply to the workplace? I have prayed for my fellow coworkers constantly without ceasing. They are lost. I pray that they come to know God and repent of their sins before it's too late. I have talked to them about God but they don't want anything to do with him. I am trying to listen to God to tell me what to do, but God has not revealed it to me yet. Do you think I just need to be patient and wait on the LORD. That is what my heart is telling me, but I justed wanted to hear from other Christians of what I should do. Thank you for reading this. Love, Amy

Hi Amy, and welcome to C.F. I'm glad to hear of your decision to follow the Lord, best decision one could ever make. I think there is a new members intro forum, but its o.k. that you posted here. I would suggest before you start reading any Bible study of man that you seek understanding from the Lord first and foremost, and that is by way of the reading His Word and asking God for understanding through His Spirit of Truth, who gives to all men freely if they ask God in faith.

Here is the verse you were probably thinkin of...
2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

It's great that you share the gospel with others, but don't get too dissapointed by the hardness of peoples hearts, and when you don't see fast results by way of the fruit of your labors, that is all to be expected.

Be patient, all we can do is plant the seed, but it is God who brings forth the increase. If you ever have any questions or comments about scripture please feel free to come and share. Again its nice to meet you, and may the grace of the Lord be with ya, peace.

Please be careful about 2 Cor 6:14. Being yoked is a pretty tight thing. It suggests a relationship with someone such that you're stuck with going the same place they do. (That's what a yoke does, right?) This does not mean that you can't be friends, and work with non-Christians, as long as the relationship doesn't commit you to doing non-Christian things.

The passage goes on to say that there is nothing in common between light and darkness. The problem is that people aren't either all light or all darkness. We need to avoid corruption by darkness, but dividing people into "us" who are light and "them" who are darkness is quite contrary to Jesus' approach.

See also 1 Cor 5:9 ff. Paul says that we are not to judge non-Christians with whom we associate by Christian standards. One of the primary ways that people become Christian is by seeing how their non-Christians friends live and finding it attractive. That doesn't work if Christians don't have non-Christian friends.

Just posting this behind yours (your reference to it)

1Cr 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

1Cr 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

1Cr 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Just for lurkers, and because I was bored ^_^
