  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Last week, I adopted a little one month old kitten that a student in my school found with two others, without their mommy. Her name is Ellie. She is a rascal. I am allowed to take her to school with me till she is weaned. I am trying to get her litter trained and she is refusing to learn. HELP! :help:

My other cat is a four year old, huge, grey tabby. She hasn't exactly warmed up to Ellie. Could use some prayer for this union.

NEVER have an older female get acquainted with a younger male....I've learned my lesson there! They don't get along at all...and during the time I was recovering from my hysterectomy 3 years ago, I had to give up the male cat, and thankfully he had a good home--out in the country. He's a GREAT mouser! I also need to add that older queens tend to get very territorial about their homes and their 'humans'. Just so you know...

Dunno what to tell you on how to get your kitty to use the litterbox....could it be that's she's still too young?

Get some pics!!!!

I've always contained a new kitty in a small room where the box is... so they know where it is... and.. as mentioned above.... put the kitty in the box... hold it's sweet precious little paws and do the scratching in the litter.

Little kitty's are so fun and entertaining... your older cat may just find the amusment value in it also. :prayer:

As for training our, we are lucky and all seem to use the litter box right away without any help. They are also outside cats and when they come inside they go right to the door when they want out, also no training there, crazy animals.
To get them acquainted, I really don't know. We just used to keep them in them all in the garage so they finally began to tolerate each other, even the older males and the little kittens. We also used to have a mother cat that would nurse any kittens, even ones that were two times the age, and weaned, than her kittens. It is really funny to see the pictures of a grey cat feeding her kittens and a random big yellow one there too.

edited to add: the kittens that we have now, I think they are about four weeks old are already starting to be weaned, they drink milk from a plate and are already eating some semi moist food. You can make it yourself by adding milk to dry cat food. So yours should be weaned really soon if it is a month old

it is possible to litter train an untrained cat or kitten, I've done it before with kitties that were taken away from their mom too young. It's a hassle, but possible.

Treat them like a puppy, with trips to the box after they wake up, after a good romp, after eating, etc. It's great that you have another cat, so your box already has that 'lived in' smell.

welcome to hard work :( but once you're done, you're done! like potty training a kid, but not as smart :)
