• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New IDD Restriction: Only members with 100 posts or more can post in IDD

The Interdenominational Dialogue forum is meant to be a forum for peaceful, friendly discussions between Christians from different denominations and creeds. It is a place where Catholics and Protestants, Messianics and Orthodox Christians, can share their doctrines, and agree to disagree on others.

Unfortunately, lately it has degenerated into a place of flame-wars, and relationships between members have been strained.

Rather than shutting down the whole forum (and believe me, it has been contemplated many times now), we have come up with an idea to see if this would help.

In order to cut down on drive-by posts by newer members who have not gotten to know the members or use the site enough, we have decided to trial a restriction for the IDD forums.

Basically, from now on, only members with 100 posts or more can post in the IDD forums. This restriction has been implemented so that only members who have stayed in CF for a while can engage in inter-denominational debate, which can be quite heated at times.

We want newer members to post in the other Congregation forums first, get to know the members and familiarize themselves with the forums before posting in the IDD forum.

Thank you for understanding. Let's see how this works out.

Awesome idea guys! I've found that as I spent more time on this site and the more I got to know the members the less likely I was to "attack" with my words on ideas they held. I was more likely to approach those topics in a tactful manner. Early on I had my share of run ins and am really surprised I wasn't warned at all. This is a great idea.

The number of posts does not indicate a respect for other members.
Ive lurked a fair while, posted a little and learned a lot.
I cant think of a better way other than to use the length of time a person has been a member.

Length of time may not mean much. This is because a person could register a year ago, but only visited the site once. Post count is the most reliable indicator as it shows that the member has contributed and interacted with others on the site.
