Have you travelled to any of Lake Erie's Islands before?

That was a really neat opportunity.

Riding back and forth sounds awful though- I can't imagine how early you would have to leave to get there.

Do you ever regret not taking it?

No, I decided that whatever decision I made I would let it go, and I did. Since island life is slower, you wouldn't necessarily have to rush to be on the island. Ferries only run at certain times and planes are expensive. It would've been a life of leisure, but you have to take everything you need with you, which means taking your vehicle full of tools and spares on a ferry, or carrying what gear you need onto a plane and hope you have everything you'll possibly need. Yeah, I'm at peace with it. I can always go visit the islands and not have to think about how I would've come to hate my job. lol

Have you travelled to any of Lake Erie's Islands before?

I have not actually been real far into Lake Erie. We use to put our boat in the Detroit River and would not go any farther than we had to, to catch Walleye which was normally not much more than about an hour ride from our landing. I did not even know Lake Erie had cool islands to check out, something I will do in the future. My home is closer to Lake St. Clair which the Detroit River connects to Lake Erie and I've been to an island or two on it. Then we also have some famous and not so famous islands in Northern Michigan like Mackinac Island, Boise Blanc Island, and Beaver Island. I've been to all those by our boat except we took a fairy to Beaver Island. Mackinac I've actually been to several times for vacations and it's very neat to check out. It's like stepping back in time, no cars allowed, only horses and/or buggies or bicycles if you don't want to walk. Probably the world's greatest fudge and lots of it. Worth checking out at least once I think if the travelling is ever feasible for anyone.

Yes I have, a lot more so than Lake Erie. The whole coast is super beautiful. Beaver Island is the largest island in Lake Michigan actually. Lots of great ports on Lake Michigan such as Grand Haven, Ludington, and the Traverse City/Charlevoix/Torch Lake area which has supposedly been ranked one of the most beautiful places in the world by National Geographic decades ago.
