I have found; in times of trouble; like we have with this CV-19; that listening to; and singing along to good Christian P&W music; can bring us closer to Jesus and His wonderful peace.

Welcome. Though I've heard of Reddit I have no experience with it. Sorry to here that things got difficult there. Culture is devolving very rapidly, so nobody knows what things will look like in six months. But it has been OK here so far. Thanks for joining.

It's spreading to the "real world" too. I'm part of an inter-denominational "resource group" at work as our company has this "resource group" program and you can form one for almost any reason (ethic and racial groups, LGBT, women's, hobbies, professional interest) - but dare you try to form a christain group, you are in for it. It took this group over TWO YEARS to finally get status.

And that's the issue of the day isn't it? They are squeezing us out of the public square completely. Soon, in order to discriminate against those of faith, all they'll have to do is say the discrimination is due to politics/hate speech rather than religion and they can kick us out of any job or business without fear of legal reprisal.

I remember a book on my bookshelf by John Richard Neuhaus called ‘The Naked Public Square’. I’m going to have to reread that book.

I remember one of the" celebrity priests "from days past (might have been Fulton Sheen) once say something along the lines of:" my generation of priests gets into arguments, the next generation will be called bigoted, and by the fourth generation they will be executed in the public square alongside their Protistant preacher brothers"

That rings a tone similar to what cardinal George of Chicago said.

"I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history."

About the same time I decided to back off the political because I decided if I'm to be persecuted it will be for my faith alone and not my political thoughts, I ran across a Paul Washer sermon where he had said back in 2014: (quote)

"Down through history you have a wrong idea of martyrdom and persecution. You think that these men were persecuted and martyred for their sincere faith in Jesus Christ. That was the real reason but no one heard that publicly. They were martyred and they were persecuted as enemies of the state, as bigots, as narrow minded stupid people who had fallen for a rouse and could contribute nothing to society. Your suffering will not be noble. So your mind must be filled with the Word of God when all people persecute you and turn on you. This is no game. You want revival and awakening but know this, for the most part great awakening have come only proceeding great national catastrophe and the persecution of the church."

He has a point there.
