  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In america having children is not an easy task. Many articles that talk about things that can cause a marriage to end talk about money, not talking and of course children. You pretty much don't have a life with your spouse once you have a child. This is why so many feel sad when the child moves out, but at the same time feel a happiness knowing they have freedom again. Or at least thats what most have told me.

The biggest problem I think is not really the children per say as much as it is how this country makes us live life with a child. There are rules for everything, especially in school and you can't really bend those rules. Then you have the government telling you how to raise your child. Then you have the money that has to be spent in school on things you have no choice over.

And yes having a child itself does bring its own stress because you have to be VERY involved in their life and yet somehow manage a marriage. The first two years of having a bay requires you to pretty much never sleep, lots of diaper changes, bickering with your spouse, sore body from breast feeding. Once they start to walk and talk you spend the rest of your life helping them to make the right decisions. Which becomes more stressful when they are teens and like to do what they want.

I agree. The only part I would be happy about is that it would be me and my husband. Right now I am 70% sure I do not want kids. Sometimes I do but I love doing things with just my husband and our furbaby. I agree marriage would not be the same and my parents hardly ever showed affection. We love doing things spur of the moment and want to travel. I also want to have a career! I am 27 and just starting over. I always worry I will wind up pregnant though. Sometimes preventing kids is more stressful
