• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,
I stumbled across this forum a few days ago, It has been a real blessing! My ocd got really bad about a year ago (pure o) I have been seeing a specialist for about 6 months and that is going well with a few ups and downs of course. I wouldn't wish ocd on anybody but it sure is great to know that other Christian's are walking through it with the Lord.

Amen to that. I wouldn't wish it on anyone either. And yes, there are many who are boldly walking toward the throne despite what is thrown against us. It's difficult at times, but we are never alone and the Lord understands us better than we can understand ourselves. Our situations are so complex, but the Lord knows. And that where I find peace at. I love that scripture by the way =] Hope you have a good week. Glad that you joined. Praying for you.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I'm so encouraged by you all (Iron sharpens Iron) I really like what I read in another post about ocd thoughts being like ghosts made out of sheets, how they look scary but have no weight that is a great way to look at it. Also being able to go toward the throne boldly because of who we are in Christ!
To say he loves us can sometimes be a understatement, my pastor was speaking tonight about the Lords grace, its hard for me to wrap my mind around how awsome his love and grace is!
All I know is that he Loves us beyond what we can understand and that the more I delight in him the better my life gets.

I too am a pure O nowadays, used to be compulsive too but I'm thankful that part of it has gone away. It was twice as bad.
I try to think of it as His strength being made perfect in our weakness. OCD may very well be a gift which causes us to cling tighter to Christ than we would if we didn't have it.

Sometimes I see it that way. Before I had these thoughts I was so far off the track but they are the reason why I came crawling back to Him and got saved and now have eternal life. Every negative situation He has the power to turn around in our benefit and His glory. I love Him so much. And as much as I hate to say it sometimes, I'm grateful for this trail, because it taught me how to rely on His word and not my feelings and it taught me more about Him and I love Him everyday everyhour

I agree I wish that I was not so hard headed,I think about my own situation with ocd and I know that I would not be seeking him the way that I am if ocd had not struck me like it did. Not that I am by any means perfect at seeking him or his will, but its alot different than it used to be. I think of Paul being able to sing praises to him from prison, what does that say to us in our lives? I know its not easy all the time but the Lord is the one with the power and the answers. The more we can focus on him the better life gets! I keep walking through life in different situations and its like he is saying look to me not your understanding! Man Im a slow learner!!
Keep fighting the good fight, we know who the champion is!

amen . amen . amen. At first I had a problem with not being in control and learning to trust Him but now I'm runnging to Him for help first now and coming to Him. He is amazing beyond what I can grasp. Like sometimes I just have to shake my head thinking about His goodness. It's too much . I can't grasp it =]

And sometimes it takes me a while to learn things or submit but you know what's good about Him? When we don't get it the first time, second, third, forth, fifth He doesn't say you know what no more chances. But He keeps on working on us and helping us. He knows we're all not on the same level and sometimes we just don't have no sense but that doesnt stop His love or His mercy toward us. I really love Him. And stay encouraged. He overcame and because of that, we can. =] To God be the glory.
