  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

welcome SOTK:wave:

tell us a bit about yourself.........

Well, I've been a Christian for about 7 years now. I am a recovered alcoholic and was really introduced to Christ by a fellow recovering alcoholic from A.A.

After becoming a Christian, I spent about 2-3 years reading the Bible and reading non-fiction Christian authors. I didn't attend a Church at all. I was very turned off by organized religion for many years which was one stumbling block to accepting the Truth. I have witnessed religious dysfunction and hypocrisy in my life.

During those 2-3 years as a Christian, I began to understand a lot about who God is and who I was as one of God's Children. I had fellowship with a few Christians, but as I said, I didn't attend Church.

I eventually met a nice Christian woman and decided to attend her Church with her which was a Southern Baptist Church. I felt like the Baptists came as close to what I believed as possible. I joined the Church and was baptized.

This nice Christian woman and I became married. We moved to another city and joined a North American Baptist Church. We have since become very involved in our Church and really love it there.

During all these years, I have continued to study the Word, of course, and have looked into Theological positions which I have never known about. One of these positions is Calvinism. :)

I am still studying Calvinism, but I am happy to say that I believe in all of TULIP. :)
