• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey everybody!
I have been looking for a Christian support site that deals with quitting smoking and I came across this one. I have found others that are good, however the people seem to want the individual to take all the credit for their 'will power' to quit, and I know if I manage to quit, that it will be all to glory of God. Coz I know I won't make it without His help! I stopped smoking exactly 2 hrs. 13 min. ago, but who's counting! : ) Just would love to hear from others that the Lord has helped conquer this rotten habit!
Thanx so much and God bless, Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hey Jonesygirl,

Glad to hear that you have taken the plunge and let God help you quit smoking. The first step is always the hardest. God will help you conquer all this and much more aslong as you rely on Him. My latest quit (I always have relapses) has been 2 months and 10 days (roughly). He helps me through everyone and never allows me to give up on my dream. He sustains me in all. God bless, Evie

So proud you come here. We have several that are going through the process now. I pray that God will give you strength and courage to run this race. And that is exactly what it will be. Satan will be on all 4 sides of you telling you how weak you are and if you think you have kicked the habit then light one and just take one drag. Please, Please, don't let satan control you or your thoughts. When you make your will God's will, you can do anything. Easy, no...but anything worth having don't come easy. I will be praying for you all the way.

A prayer for the dear children of God.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord. I am praying that they be set free of the habit of smoking.

I ask that they be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power from within themselves by the Holy Spirit who lives and dwells in their innermost being. They are strong in the Lord and will be impowered through their union with the Lord.

Lord, I pray they draw strength from Your boundless strength.

Lord I pray they will arm themselves with the full armor of God and will be able to stand up against all the lies of satan in the name of Jesus.

Lord, I pray they have deliverance from this habit and receives complete freedom now.

Lord, I ask that you give Your children the ability to discipline their bodies and subdue it.

I pray that they will be able to withstand temptation, because Jesus is the Lord of their lives.

Greater is He that is in them than he that is in the world.

So, Lord, I ask that with Your Love cover them and give them total control over this habit and it will never control them again.

In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
