You might be Orthodox if...

when it's your birthday, you refuse to blow out the candles and instead make everyone watch them burn down slowly into the cake. Once they go out and the wax cools, you dig it out of the icing and mail it to a monastery.

I was taught that we don't put new candles on the Altar every sunday because each candle is a parable of a human life and should be allowed to burn itself out to the glory of God. To rip them out half burnt and discard them is to suggest that we don't care about those who have been burning for a while, but only in new christians.

The most important thing to remember in an Orthodox marriage is that if your spouse ends up with egg on their face, you should get some on yours, too.

You wouldn't want to be unequally yolked...
