Hello, everyone! My name is Dave, and I'm a recovered Catholic. I am an proud Atheist. My faith was not lost, it was abandoned in the same manner as Santa and the Easter Bunny.

(EDIT: I am not comparing your faith to Santa/ Easter Bunny. I am comparing the way I abandoned your faith to the way children eventually grow out of belief in the aforementioned stories.)

Welcome to CF!

It might seem a bit daunting at first as there are so many places you can choose to post!
(Click on red text for direct links!)

First of all I would suggest checking these out:

blessings and reputation ( a bit confused check this out!)

Need help? (Check out the how to page and post any queries)

Once you have got to grips with the basics it’s time to fellowship!

Blessings Exchange (Go here and join in the fun!)

Friendship Court (Say Hi and meet new friends here)

Prayer (Add your own requests and pray for others here)

Life stages(Find the forum which best suits you here)

Then just have a look around, see what interests you and get posting!

Your truth? That isn't necessarily the truth.

Truth isn't relative, ma'am. Truth is truth even if you choose faith instead. You can verify truth... you know, with evidence. If I saw evidence of god, I might consider changing my stance.

In fact, that's one of the reason I joined this site, I'd love to see how Christians (on a personal basis, not polls) explain away the evidence against religion.

What do YOU think about carbon dating, the age of the earth, the race of Jesus (provided he existed), dinosaurs, black holes, the ark, etc etc.

You cannot prove the existence, or disprove the existence, of spirit beings, God, or any of that. Proving the age of the earth is nothing that disproves or proves God. God made the earth in his time as the sun and moon were not made until the fourth day. We are not reading the Bible correctly when insisting on a six-day creation of the universe. Trying to talk logic on your level is not going to prove or disprove our beliefs. Your level is not God's level. Spirituality is far above earthly sights.

Touched a nerve? My bad. Ok, so let's back away from logic and base it on gut-instinct. My beliefs are: A god that allows a child to starve to death SLOWLY has to be either malevolent or powerless to stop it.

I can give you a million reasons why I don't believe. I want to know why you DO? Another question, what makes you think that you understand god's level?

Because of how God has shown Himself in life--- I've had very real, very personal experiences with Him effecting my life in a very positive way. So much so, I can not deny Him, His existence, or what He provides me: comfort and salvation.

And this is coming from someone who teaches science to students. ;)

You are correct sir in that truth is not relative, it is absolute. If you are a student of science you would know that science neither proves nor disproves religion. It does however show that it would be a statistical anomoly of gigantic proportions to have the universe and everything in it created by mere chance. If you really want to get into a philosophical argument about atheism verses theism feel free to IM me or PM me and I would be glad to help you see the truth.
