• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

These questions of "what if" will only bring confusion, it is much better to just focus on "what is". What is: Is that Jesus loves us all with an everlasting love that is holy, pure, selfless, and never ending. The fact is we ARE sinners and we deserve hell but the Lord Jesus died to save us from this fate and is not willing that any should perish:

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

God's heart is for us not against us, maybe this is where you are stumbling, you need to rechongnise the FACT that Jesus loves you and died personally for YOU so could be free from the curse of sin and corruption and death.

Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?' (Ezekiel 33:11)

"Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!" (Isaiah 30:18)

"For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." (Habakkuk 2:3)

Our God is a God of mercy, a God of love, a God who can be trusted with our soul. Blessings.

I have a question for you. First, I've noticed that much of your OCD fear seems to revolve around your Christian walk. My question is do you have any of that OCD fear in other areas of your life? I don't think you've ever really talked about that so that's why I'm curious about that.

See, for many of us, we can clearly see that our OCD fears are irrational. We know that we probably won't intentionally run somebody over with our vehicle because we know we're not like that - and yet we still worry about it!! We know that it's silly to check 16 times whether or not the door is locked but we do it anyway. We know that we really don't have germ-laden hands but we feel compelled to wash them repeatedly just the same.

That same irrational fear is what you have in common with the majority of people who deal with the 'regular' OCD fears. You MUST recognize that. You're taking things personally and saying well I just must not be a very good Christian. You need to take a step back and accept why you have these irrational fears in the first place. It's because of your OCD. You MUST separate your OCD from your Christian walk.

If you don't have any OCD fears in any other areas of your life then it may be a bit harder for you to recognize this. I know how irrational OCD can be because of the things it causes me to worry about/do in my regular day to day life. So, when it comes knocking in the area of my Christian walk I can easily recognize it and tell it to get lost.

I'm not saying that this is easy. It's not. Just as dealing with the 'regular' irrational OCD fears that we have to deal with isn't easy. But it's all the same thing. Our minds are overreacting and thinking of every possible scenario and that is all.

Ultimately, you're going to have to let the fear go. Having OCD is all about trying to have control. Giving up control is one of the hardest things a person with OCD has to do. Every single person on here would say the same thing even though OCD might affect them in a different way than it does you. However, you've got to abandon your desire to have control and just throw yourself into the arms of Jesus. He's waiting, even now, for you to do just that.

It would be helpful if some on here would stop judging you. This is NOT a Christian problem as far as I can tell. This is an OCD problem and the 2 CANNOT be mixed up together. Trust me when I say that God understands completely what you're going through and he does NOT condemn you for your OCD thoughts.
