  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My fiancee just got a new Boston Terrior and I have never had one and was wondering if there was anything special thing that they need. He is so cute though, he is black with white spots all over and is about 5 months old. My fiancee named him Jackson but we are going to call him Jack for short.

Watch for respiratory problems which is common in the snub nosed breeds. Other common problems are his displasia, allergies and cherry eye.

Otherwise, they are so ugly they're adorable. They are also VERY active and smart. My sister has one who snores louder than her husband and when he runs through the house,he snorts and snuffles. Sounds like a little gremlin or something. They're hilarious as they grow. They go through this wierd stage where they're all legs and skinny, before they start filling out. But they're pretty much like any other dog, they just have a few issues that you need to watch out for.

Thanks for the warnings. Yeah we already knew about the snoring cause he was the whole way home when we picked him up. I just hope he does not get to be too bad.

depending on the dog, some boston terriers tend to have looser skin, which will develop folds (like pugs or sharpeis), these skin folds need to be cleaned so they dont get infections or get itchy and smelly. Cleaning with a damp towel is usually sufficient betweem regular bathings. Also, because snubbed nose breeds have shorter muzzles and small tongues, they are not able to cool themselves as well as regular breeds (another facet of their respiratory issues), so keep them inside during hot months and provide plenty of water.

I have bred and raised Bostons. The are *so* gentle and devoted. Although, they can be stubborn if they really want their way. If you hear them "snorting"...don't be alarmed, like the above post mentioned, it's due to the nose structure. As long as you visit the vet with any concerns, you shouldn't have any problems. My male Boston is 8 years old and still jumps around like a puppy! Very active. I make sure to let him run in the yard for 2-3 hours a day.
Congrats on your new pup!!
