New Christian RPG game

I'm considering making an original RPG game based on the story of David and his mighty men. It would be a SNES JRPG style game with a serious storyline and original gameplay. It would also have a strong emphasis on good original music since I'm a hobbyist musician and have been creating rpg-style songs for awhile.

One thing I'm wondering is how many people would be interested in playing such a game? I've always enjoyed the RPG classics and while I've stopped playing RPGs from awhile ago I still feel it's one of the best genres created.

The problem is maybe no one is interested in playing a game with SNES level graphics anymore. While I program for a living and can accomplish a lot in that area, I have no skills with pixel art so I'm pretty limited there. Let me know what you all think...

Absolutely, plus if it is done right it can also be a great interactive way to get kids involved in learning that history. As long as you stay pretty close to the actual events in the Bible.

Honestly a lot of cool games could be made based on the Old Testament.

Same with movies. Look at all of the drama.

Endium, the game sounds really interesting. Did you decide to build the game? If so, how is the game going? Did you decide on David's might men or some other story? Is it ready for playtest? If so, do you have a link so I can try it out? thanks.

I build for a text-based game (MUD) and we still have quite a following. To anyone still poking around this old thread: Don’t underestimate the interest due to the graphics. You just never know.

That said it sounds quite interesting to me. I always felt the Old Testament had more than enough content to build a game off of! Hopefully this grew into a worthwhile project.
