New, but am a believer

Hi, I'm new here and been reading through the forum that addresses some of the issues I've been struggling with. I know my profile says "Judaism" but I do believe our Messiah (Saviour) has come (Jesus his English name)

Nervous, been hurt by the church, so please bear with me.

I have a Bible, I like the King James and the New King James, as well as the Complete Jewish Bible (it has the New Testament in it as well as the Tanakh) which I can access online.

I currently don't attend church although my husband does. He is quite devout. He was raised Pentecostal and is still is. I do, however, attend a synogogue.

I was a foster child and was raised Roman Catholic. But now I am Messianic Jewish. Recently I've been talking to a biological aunt (my biological father's sister) about the possibility of having legitimate Jewish bloodline. Regardless of the outcome of our investigation, I will always believe in our Messiah (Jesus). My faith in G-d and Jesus is much too strong and I know the saving power of His Sacrifice for sin atonement.

I hope I can fit in, as I said I've been hurt by the church and I really don't know where else to turn. I'm scared, actually. Thank you for reading my post.

Welcome to the forum--or rather forums. In my experience here, for what it might be worth, one can find a broad spectrum of Christian and non-Christian, and among the former, a broad spectrum and even among Messianic Jews, a wide range of personalities and beliefs.

I am sorry to hear you have been abused by a or "the" church, and pray you find some safe and helpful fellowship here. You may want to be selective in the kind of forums--such as among Messianic Jewish forums--you visit, and selective about the kinds of issues/threads you seek to engage on some level.

I suggest praying you might find the right people here (or elsewhere) for healing and growth. And for whatever my experience might be worth to you, in a time of spiritual trial in the past, I listened to the Scriptures being read for some hours most days of the week for quite a few months; it seemed to help in the long haul. The Tanakh and New Covenant canons are for you.

May the Lord bless and keep you in His way. And by the way, I like cats too.

Ya, I know I have to be careful, learned it the hard way. That's way I said "Jesus" instead of "Yeshua". And I'll try my best to not use Hebrew terminology as much as I can. I have visited Messianic forums before but they were promoting polygamy and calling G-d all kinds of weird names and doing animal sacrifices, it all got confusing for me. Not even Orthodox Jews sacrifice animals due to the fact there's no temple standing.

i'm sure you will find a place here, sister, be patient. i'm happy the Lord led you to this place. i find the prayer forum to be peaceful and kind and wonderful, more so than some of the other forums. just saying

I joined the forum in December but am new because I just started posting.

I think we'll fit right in. I'm sorry you have had some bad experiences with church. You may have heard that the church is like a hospital. It is where the sick come to get better.

I'm striving to improve my life in positive ways. I have some awesome Christian friends. I don't get to see them much but it is so wonderful to know caring, loving Christians.

Dear catsareawesome. In Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus gives us a chance to follow His teaching. " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." In verse 40, we are told a great truth: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Love is very important to our Heavenly Father, and God wants loving sons and daughters.
Matthew 7; 7-10: we are told: " ask and you shall receive," we ask God for Love and Joy, then thank God, and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour:
all we know and all we meet, friends and not friends. We keep asking God for Love and Joy, then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour.
God will see our loving efforts, and God will approve and bless us. Love is a
Christian`s weapon, with love we can overcome all enmity and wrong behaviour.
The Bible tells us: " Repent and be Born Again," we give up all selfish wishes and wants, and start Loving and Caring. Love is very catching, and we will find that people will treat us the same as we treat people. We might stumble and forget, but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on loving and being kind and caring. The Holy Spirit will help and guide us, and Jesus our Saviour
will lead us all the way: JESUS IS THE WAY.

I have also been hurt by the church a number of times. I find myself reluctant to go and many Sundays don't go to church, but am still trying to find a place. This is a fairly large forum and there are a wide variety of people here. Many have had a similiar experience that you have with the church. Welcome
