  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New Bible Study

It has been a long time since I have been to the forum.  I started college this sememster and barely have time to breath let alone anything else.

But, I just had to share what happened tonight.  Last week my husband got a call from a man he knew and the guy said he needed help.  So hubby brought him over for a meal and they started talking and hubby led this man to the Lord that evening.  Which is wonderful

Well, the man had lost his house and was desperate.  We helped him get in touch with our pastor who helped him get into the local homeless shelter.  We also got him a bible and gave him a bible study book called "Survivor Kit for New Christians".  Hubby said he would come out to the shelter and go through it with him each week.  Well this guy called tonight and said there were some other people who would like to do the study as well.  So hubby went to the church and got 4 more books and 2 more bibles.  One hour before hubby is suppose to go to the shelter they called back and said there was going to be 17!!!  So I was recruited to help.  It was amazing to feel the Lord working through me like never before!  Even with only an hour of preparation we did pretty good I thought.

Afterwards, so many people came up to me to talk to me and tell me their stories.  These people are all hurting so bad.  It broke my heart.  I just kept telling them to give it to Jesus.  He is there and wants to help you all  you have to do is ask.

So now I am asking for  your prayers.  For all these lost souls looking for a way.  They asked for as many prayers as possible that they would all find jobs and be able to be on their own.

I am just at a point of pure joy.  They are suppose to vote Monday night and decide if they want to make the commitment to the 6 week course.  So we don't even know if we will be going back.  But, pray that His will be done and we can go back...

Thank you!

Kathy

Awesome story Kathy. I just posted a thread asking you where you have been. I should have waited.

I am thrilled to hear this report. This is the kind of thing that really excites me. I will pray about this, and I will tell you to not allow yourself to become depressed or disappointe. This is a REALLY REALLY REALLY T-O-U-G-H ministry. Been there-Done that. You will be blessed if you stay Focused.

There is much pain in this ministry! Pray for strength and be prepared.

Thank you so much for all the prayers!  I really appreciate them.  I have been on a natural high ever since we left there last night.  I am trying to have no delusions about these people.  I have talked to a couple of them privately and said that God is there waiting to help and comfort them but, they still have to do all that is in their power to help themselves.  But, God will provide the way.  I just keep telling myself that we may not be the ones to reap the seeds but, we are definately planting them.  If someone has to be shown the way to the Father 20 times before they get it...then this can be one of those 20 times.  Does that make sense.  It doesn't make the work less important.  And who knows it may be that someone doesn't get what we are saying to them now but, someday they may remember what we have said and then it can be comfort and bring them to the Father.  I am still so excited that I am rambling!!!

Just please keep all these prayers coming!  We certainly need them!

I agree, sometimes you have to plant seeds and keep on planting them, on the right time they will grow. You just keep the good news flowing.

Wow! I am excited for you and hubby! What exciting news you have. It is an awesome testimony to the way God can work through His own to reach out an touch the lives of others. I do pray that God will reveal what He wants revealed and you totally rely on Him for courage to move forward with this. Think of the plans He must have in store for you and yours. There is such a need for outreach in all areas of the world and you are becoming a part of it, that is EXCITING news! Glorify His name and continue to seek Him and His kingdom. We should all be open and willing to His will.

UPDATE:

Well, we have heard back from the shelter and they voted as a group and want to have us back weekly to teach the bible study.  After that where we go from here is anyone's guess.  Only God knows and I can only wait to find out.  It is so exciting!

We want to thank everyone for their prayers.  We really appreciate them and believe that the more people that pray for something specific the more power the prayers have.  Did I say that right?  Anyway, I know what I meant.

Again thank you!  And if you can please remember us on thursday evenings at 7:30 pm central time.  We need the prayers!
