New Age Advertisements

When I logged into the forum last night on my iPad, I encountered New Age advertisements on the forum site that invited people to log into a site to find out their future. And another advertisement showing how people how to contact their spirit guide. I found this puzzling that this should be on a Christian forum site. What are your thoughts about it?

Outside of paid ad space negotiated with the site owner, third-party services include advertisements closely related to the topic, others who’ve bid to market to the audience, or in response to viewer behavior elsewhere (like Facebook).

I don't get ads at all. I paid a few dollars so perhaps that eliminates ads?

Yes. Becoming a supporter of the forum eliminates the ads. But someone who is a new Christian just joining the forum could be misled to think that the forum approves of such ads, and could be led astray.

I don't know how you get around that. There are costs involved with hosting the forum, the software, maintaining the site etc. Even the power for the server has to be paid for.

As has been said, become a supporter and you'll not have to see that. What you will see is every wild-haired opinion under the sun. And, someone might try to tell you what your future holds. Other than that, this space is not anything like those puzzling adverts.

Open a support ticket with the moderators. I’m sure they would like to know what new arrivals see even if they can’t control it.
