Don't feel bad that you haven't had a girlfriend before. I was my husband's first girlfriend. I felt so special that I was the first person he had even kissed properly. I wish I could've said the same thing.Chino said:I just turned 24 and it seems that everyone around me has someone special, and I look at my life and I've never had a girlfriend my entire life. I don't think I'm ugly but I think I look average. I have wondered if something was wrong with me. Girls have shown interests in me sometimes, or I think anyways but I can never know.I have tried before but girls don't see b/f material in me or something. Do I have a flawed character trait that I can't see but others can? I try to be very unassuming and friendly to everyone. I am a little shy and don't always have the smoothest lines or conversations with girls. At times I feel like a pathetic human because because I've never had a girl friend, maybe I'm incapable of holding a relationship with a female and ever being able to express love. Other parts of my life are fine but I"m just an idiot when it comes to love. Can some offer me any advice on being a better person and tips on how take things further from a casual friendship to a couple?
You're welcome - search engines are great when you're looking for a package. We should even the score for the ladies, though - I think the women got away easy, after looking at a sampling: :^)wvmtnkid said:Thanks Keil for looking those up!
Gee, looks like we ladies are a bear to live with!
I'm happy for you. I'm hoping that some people will learn from my mistakes too!Chino said:Breetai, I stayed away from party girls, never could click with them, my friends however didn't and some of them got hurt, so I learned by watching in those situations.

Ive always based my chick issues on the thought that God will provide the girl for me and i just have to follow Him faithfully until that time. My time will come. But, until then, im single and HATING it
A wise phrase from my dad:: "Don't fall in love until you can do something about it!"Breetai said:I'm happy for you. I'm hoping that some people will learn from my mistakes too!
onikirimaru777, I hate being single too! Why don't you do me a favour and learn from me. Don't go for party girls and don't get involved with girls until you are ready to get married. It'll be very much worth it. You'll see!
I was reading the message boards for the 1994 movie Forrest Gump recently and one of the threads was quite interesting and may shed some light on the theory of why some women like to be treated this way..is any of this true?stray bullet said:Treat them like dirt, seems to be a great way to attract the opposite sex.

{quote}Let's look at Jenny for a minute here. She has a man, albeit a not so bright man, who is a millionaire, famous, has a huge house, and is a war hero. He is also madly in love with her, would die to protect her, and could and would give her just about anything her heart desired. What does she do? She goes and lives with these abusive drug addicts who do nothing for her except give her AIDS and treat her like dirt. How stupid can someone be? Why do women do this? I have had a girlfriend like Jenny. I treated her like a queen, never hurt her, never put her down, was always there for her. Then, she walked out on me for a guy that beats her up. Anyone have any idea why women do that? {end quote}
{response 1}Same thing happened to me. I dunno, thats life.
{response 2}Stupid is as stupid does.
{response 3}Forms of instant gratification, such as money, drugs and sex, will always mean more to women than love. It's just the way they are.
{response 4}Yep, and that's the center of the story of Forrest - love stinks. At least he got his medal of honor back.
{response 5}Hey, Darkfalz, don't be so sure. I used to think the same thing about men! Some women may have given you that impression, but I know a number of us value Love more than any of that other stuff. So don't give up on us just yet
{response 6}Well, I asked a friend of mine about this some time ago. What Orlando said is that a person who is abused starts to expect it from everyone. If someone is treating them right, they always have it in the back of their minds "When is he going to start hitting me?" So instead of always wondering, they leave for someone who will hit them. They cannot grasp the fact that the person they are with will never hurt them, so instead of always wondering when it will happen, they leave for someone who will hit them. I guess that instead of always wondering when they will get hit, they feel better with someone who will hit them, instead of always wondering when it will happen. And I think Jenny really did love Forrest, just like I really think that Christina really loved me. They just didn't have enough sense to realize what they really had.
{response 7}Jenny was a psychologically troubled individual.
Before you start labeling someone as stupid (in such broad terms, no less), maybe you should get some smarts yourself, and find out what the motivations are for one's behavior. Jenny's portrayal and the way the role was written was in fact, right on the money.
If you remember, Jenny was sexually abused as a child. If you know anything about psychology, or victims of child sexual abuse, you'll know that they have feelings of very low self-worth; so, Jenny never felt she was worthy of Forrest's love. Thus, she sought out low lifes who would treat her like ****. She jumped in anybody and everybody's car, she posed for skin flicks, etc. She had no love for herself, didn't care about her well-being, and couldn't understand, or appreciate the fact that Forrest did. Which, is the beauty of the ending. She was able to come full circle, bury her pain, and let herself give love, and be loved. One of the best moments in this great film is when Forrest, Jenny, and a young Haley Joel Osment as "Little Forrest" are walking together hand and hand. {end of responses}
