  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Following the holocaust in world war two, the Jewish people adopted a slogan: "never forget."

We would do well to remember not to forget September 11, 2001 when some of our enemies attacked us on our own soil, killing thousands and wounding the American psyche.

Among other things, September 11, 2001, was a rebuke to the humanistic philosophy that man is basically good, or can be made that way by giving him what he wants. What these enemies want is our destruction. Do we want to give them that?

We can allow them to destroy us, or we can continue to indulge in our own form of suicide by our indifference to God and our pursuit of material gain and sensuous pleasure.

In the days of revival, leading preachers would be calling on God's people to repent of their sins and seek his face.

Today, too many prefer to call on the Republican Party and the president and denounce the other party and liberals in general. They create, or back, impulsive campaigns they suggest will improve the country rather than radical individual transformation that would improve many souls.

Let's not forget September 11, but let's also remember what caused it
