• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I post often, in fact more often on a certain music forum, with many members throughout the world, but mainly in the USA.
On saturday mornings, we sometimes gather in the chatroom on this site, to listen to a certain radio programme thats broadcast from the U.K (we're i am).
A few weeks ago, for some unknown and untold reason, the BBC and other broadcasting networks blocked internet broadcasts and streams to those outside of europe (we figured a way around this).
If the internet becomes a pay as you use service, then im afraid the days of me using the net will be over. I really hope this doesnt happen.
Another theory is that most if not all of the media in the USA (and UK) is controlled by the government and they don't like their citizens seeing the news from the perspective of the arab world.

Hopefully coporate business will keep its nose out of the internet.

We now only read what the richest people want us to read.

Ive read a prediction on an err... anarchist webiste - The form of internet is going to change. The media may own the net. They will control what we see, hera or read. They will make it harder for us to search what we want and direct us to what they want us to know :sigh:

A free internet will be obsolete, driving people who want freedom of knowledge underground.

In a few cases net control would be good, but only in a very few - in most this could be bad for intellegent, thinking people.

EDIT: AOL is very much getting there fast. i cant stand it in some cases - ive been restricted on stuff already, hence i have firefox now! But main provider is AOL i have no choice at the mo.

If you do change your ISP, you will find it exremely hard to get rid of AOL, not just from your PC either.
I've heard all kinds of horror stories about this company.

You should get Trillian, it lets you manage AIM, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ accounts at the same time. You can even have multiple accounts from the same provider open easily. It's truly a wonderful thing. Get it now, before AOL decides it doesn't want you using it.
