  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So today was a revival like service. I am led to believe that yesterday was my day of salvation. I believed not in the prayer saving me but God's word saying that If I confess jesus is lord with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus rose from the dead, I would be saved. I believe that he cannot lie and that he is my only hope and I confessed I am a sinner. Besides that, at the service today, my dad is a deacon so he normally does not sit with us on this day. Normally, my brother and I would go with our uncle where he works in the audio room. We would get on the computer and look at videos. I am not sure if this was the holy spirit or just my mind, but instead of doing what I normally do, I decided to sit down in the service. Was this the holy spirit? It was a powerful service by the way. I prayed for assurance of salvation. How has god assured you of your salvation? This no longer has to do with the thread title seeing as I figured out my concern.

I believe that it was probably the Holy Spirit who led you to the service, but I don't believe in assurance of salvation.. I believe that we need to keep on repenting of sin and persevere in faith in order to be saved. The Bible says this too. It's possible for a person to turn away from God in the future so we must always be careful and cooperate with His grace as we follow Him.

I get my assurance by sticking to the teachings of Jesus on an "all the time basis"...

'if the word remains in you, He remains in you'

'many will say, 'Lord, Lord', but not do what I ask them to do'

'on that day I will not be your judge, but you have a judge and that is the word I spoke to you today'

No. It's not reading the Bible all the time. It's being with Jesus all the time. Realize that everywhere you go, you take Him with you. At school, at home, wherever. Everything you do should reflect that He walks with you. It isn't easy at first.

But the Spirit will ask for obedience - in small things, at first. "Say hi to that shy student." Or, "Move over and let her have a seat, even though she's not popular." You will just feel it's the right thing to do. As you grow in faith, your obedience to small things will become automatic, and He will start asking you to do bigger things. But just do as He would have you do. Your conscience will be a big help.

You KNOW when you do things that are wrong. That is God talking to you. He did it before you came to Him, and He will continue to do it - only now, you will have the strength to tell people, "No. I don't do that."

Welcome to the family of God.

Wonderful! You're a new example of God's amazing power to save!

Primarily through His Word, but also through the inner witness of His Spirit with mine and the process of sanctification. It is good to know you're one of His, isn't it? Its even better to know that once God has adopted you as one of His children, you are His forevermore! What peace and joy are found in resting in the full, efficacious, and complete work of Christ on the cross for my sins. Not one of my righteous deeds makes his atoning work more perfect than it already is. He saved me and he keeps me saved. "Faithful is he who has called you who also will do it."

How do I avoid putting other gods before me. Does that mean I can't spend more time at school than reading the bible?

To follow God's loving truth at all times is how He saves us at all times I found.

Remember Daniel? He studied all the ungodly things Babylon could throw at him yey his love and faith in God made him the wisest of all.

Walk in and with Peace my friend:hug:
