There are many reasons why someone would say what you have and ultimately you are the only person who truly understands why. You wrote that “people don’t listen or understand” and I hope that I am not coming across like this, I like many of us here can only speak from our life experience. There have been many people who have offered good advice in these posts and all of us have experienced suffering and the emotions you are going through to some degree. This is all part of being human. From your perspective though at the moment you may not believe that.

From what you said, you think of killing yourself because of “the suffering in this world”, I am making a leap of faith to assume that there are no major physical health issues, so if I am wrong my apologies. Suffering has always been with us and you are right, it can be indiscriminate. We can choose as to how we respond as did Jesus and the apostles.
Others will offer the reason for our suffering as an original fall from grace and I know at times this can appear like an inadequate answer especially when it comes to the suffering of young children. I can’t give you a satisfying answer, however just when you think that all is lost there are those that will do something that is least expected to restore your belief in the goodness of others. You too, can be that person. All we here of is the evil in the world, never the good so maybe what you are seeing is a skewed picture of what is around you. There is a lot of good around us, although this doesn’t sell time on cable news.
Why do you believe that you are “meant to suffer”? You speak of your faith in God, hasn’t He already done this! Are you listening to what your mind is telling you about your circumstances / what is happening around you or are you listening to what God has to say about you? Do you believe the word of God if greater and more profound than what you can up with? If so, then listen to that rather than your current thinking. You said yourself that you have felt happiness and yet now you feel so awful, the question is can you trust what is in your mind?
You said that you were ashamed of your messy life. I know for myself that at times of deepest despair I turned to someone who had a lived experience of what it was like to go through what I was experiencing. Their lives were just as messy as mine and perhaps yours.
Talk to someone, keep on talking and hang in there.

We require our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary for Her Loving Holy Intercession.

Mother Mary combats satan and all evil spirits "If" a person is being prayed for to Jesus, The Holy Spirit and to Mother Mary, "if" a person turns to Jesus in complete trust, "If" a person is receiving His Blessed Holy Sacraments weekly, if a person asks for Jesus Loving assistance through repentance of sins to Him from hearts open to Him.
