  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not really sure where the best place for this thread would be but I choose here.

I am looking a few specific Biblical resources and was hoping for some recommendations.

I am wanting a book that explains symbols and there meanings in the Bible, such as water and The Holy Spirit.

I'm wanting a book that givings the meaning of various numbers used in the Bible. The Bible uses 40 to denote completion or fulfillment. It is used 146 times throughout both Testaments.

I'm wanting a book that explains all of the names of God The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the Bible. Such as El Roi, The God Who Sees Me.

I would like as much information as possible for each such as how many times something is used.

Standard books are fine, E-Books would be easier to search such as PDFs, ePub or Kindle. All recommendations are appreciated.

Thank you so much for any help you may be able to provide!

I believe most of those things are available online, try a search. If you cannot find them let me know I may have them in some of my old class notes.

I actually made several purchases through Kindle last night that should do. I'll list them here for others that made be interested.

'Praying Through The Names Of God'
by Tony Evans

'Names Of God'
by Rose Publishing

'The A To Z Guide To Bible Signs & Symbols - Understanding Their Meaning And Significance'
by Neil Wilson and Nancy Ryken Taylor

'Bible-Based Dictionary Of Prophetic Symbols For Every Christian - Bridging The Gap Between Revelation And Application (Includes, The Expanded Version Of The Illustrated Bible-Based Dictionary Of Dream Symbols)'
by Dr. Joe Ibojie

'God's Numbers - A Study Guide In Bible Symbolism'
by Glen Carpenter

'The Complete Book Of Biblical Numbers - A Listing of the Numbers and their Location in the Bible'
by Anita G. Long

Chuck Missler has many videos I am wanting to watch as well. He was a powerful man of God that connected a lot of dots to understanding Scripture in a much deeper way and revealing meaning in Scripture that is just simply overlooked by most.

It is my intention to study and learn these materials to the best of my ability for the purposes of education, to be used in a book I have been outlining for some time and as a musician, to write and record Praise and Worship music.

I would appreciate it of any who could keep me in their prayers.

The Companion Bible, a KJV study Bible put together with scholarly notes by the 19th century Christian scholar E.W. Bullinger. Having a copy just for the 198 Appendixes he put together in the back is worth it. Bullinger put scholar level notes in the side margin of the KJV text. The Old Testament includes Massorah notes from Christian David Ginsburg's Massorah translation from the best existing Old Testament manuscripts in his day, which no other study Bible has those notes. It is a serious work. However, Bullinger succumbed to Darby's Pre-tribulational Rapture theory that was made popular in the 1830s. I do not see that doctrine in God's Word, so that's my opinion on that.

Number in Scripture and many more...

Books by E.W. Bullinger

The Witness of The Stars is a major scholarly work. Bullinger researched the oldest archaeological ruins of the ancient Zodiac in the middle east. He discovered how pagan culture later changed the original meanings of the star constellations in the Zodiac. The original Witness of the star constellations is The Word of God, i.e., the Word of God was written in the stars before it was given through man in letters. He found the original names of the constellations and meanings, and they were not of pagan origin.

Just like everything else in this present world, Satan and his servants are allowed control over much of this present world, and eventually creep in to distort the Truth. This happened with the original Zodiac meanings too.

Thanks for that suggestion, I'll check it out.

For myself I've come to the place that I try not to debate theology too much. I can't recall where in the New Testament but I believe it was Paul or Peter who had some come to him alarmed telling him that a church they had been to, did not teach 'exactly' the same as they did and his response was basically (major paraphrasing) 'Are they teaching Jesus was the Son of God and died for their sins? Then let them be.'

I believe the phrase 'The Devil is in the details', is more profound than people realize. I've been in the midst of a church that God was using in a mighty way (I played on the worship team 5 times a week, sometimes more at outside events) and saw it split over details.

What I tell people (even though I do believe these things), is that John 3:16 does not say that whoever believes Jonah was swallowed by a whale and spit out on a beach, that God spoke through a donkey and whatever else you may struggle with believing in, will be saved. All you need to know and believe is that God sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins and the sins of the world so that we can be with God after we die. Repent of your sins and when you fall get back up and keep fighting the good fight of Faith. Do not do the devil's work and condemn yourself when you fall, you will fall... keep going.

Details can cause so much division if not looked at through eyes of love and forgiveness.

I agree ...I have several of his books including Numbers in Scripture and Witness of the stars...
What I didn't see on his page was the "Figures of Speech Used in the Bible", but I think Amazon still sells it...It's not something you are going to read through at 1100 pages, but an incredible reference book.
I can't imagine doing the kind of work that people like he, Charles H. Welch and many others did ...without a computer and no sticky notes! But i truly appreciate their work...........
