I went to the vet today and he has cancer in his kidneys. It also spread into his spinal cord and/or brain making him closer and closer to being totally paralyzed.

Please pray that I have the strength for this. I have had him for about 9 years and there will never be a cat like him ever. One of my best friends.

Below is a picture of him. His name is Daniel

 I know how this feels. And it isn't fun. If you need someone to talk to, my PM box is always open.

Sorry about your cat.

I had three. One died New Years Eve morning from lymphoma. It took him pretty quick, about three weeks. I didn't have to have him put down. I had taken him to the vet the day before and he was sitting up looking around that night. He was dead when I got up in the morning, but he didn't seem to be suffering although he was really sick. I thought I would have to have him put down in a few days. I'm thankful I didn't have to make the decision.

The other I had to have put down in March. He was 18+. He developed an intestinal tumor and lost a lot of weight although he kept eating like a pig, which was normal for him! He kept getting weaker and weaker. I came home from work everday expecting to find him dead. I got up one morning and he had collapsed in the hall, and couldn't get up, although he was wide awake. It was really hard taking him to the vet and having it done.

My third one is 10. I have never had such a close connection with an animal. It sounds silly, but my heart will break when she goes.

I know how hard this has been for you.

I'm so sorry about Daniel. This is a poem I put on a Memorial Website I did for one of my cats. Your Daniel looks a lot like my boy Tamir.

Poem For Cats
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

I have felt this before with the loss of some pets of ours too be comforted in knowing that your pet has done everything that the Lord intented for him or her to do and the Lord sees that you value that which he has given life. Animals exsisted before we sinned so I don't see why they wouldn't exsist after the Lord returns as well. Remember:

Revelations 7:17 ....and God shall wipe away ALL tears from their eyes.:crossrc:

I am so very sorry to hear what you are going through. I know far too well how tremendously difficult this is ~ as I have been through this many times myself. Each pet is unique and none are ever the same in their personalities.

Please know I am so very sorry for your loss of Daniel. However, I know you two will be reunited some day.

My thoughts and prayers are very much with you.

God Bless you. And God Bless Daniel.

Feel free to PM me at any time. :groupray:

The Rainbow Bridge story
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

 Oh dear..... When I was this post, my heart sank.
I have 2 cats, One I've had for almost 14 years, the other, almost 8.....they are my babies....my best friends.... I truly feel for you and what you are going through right now....it's breaking my heart:cry: I do not know what I will do when it is time for me to say goodbye to either of them.
Cats have such compassion....I know that your cat must have comforted you over the years every time you were ill.... make sure you lay on the floor with him, gently rub your fore head over the top of his(from his eyebrows past the middle of his ears) he will know what you mean!
I will pray for daniel....may St. Francis comfort you both:hug:
