  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok this is my situation, I began liking this girl at my church like six months ago, don't know never been in love before, but now I think I am, and I wonder if this is really love? Shes currently my Christian firend, and we like talking about this and experiences we had with God, I think we get along very well, but I just can't take her out my mind, I once tried but I couldn't, I don't know what to do, if wheter to tell her my feeling tours her or just keep on being friends. I'm 17 going to be 18 in a few months, she turned 18 while back, in other words shes 4 months older than me but i'm guessing girls like older guys? Any advice i'll appreciate, Thanks! God Bless You!

sorry wasnt sure where to post this.

Most of the time it's not an actual age, but stage and maturity that is important. You two are close in age so I wouldn't worry about that.

I would suggest that you continue being her friend and spending time with her. Someone else posted somewhere that you don't really love her if you don't know her well. You're in love with the idea of what you think she is like. If the two of you are already going out with a group of people then continue. If not, try to get a group together and invite her along.

The only feeling that you should be expressing to her right now, if any is that you would like to get to know her better.

Here's the other thing. If you love her, you will do what you can to make yourself a stable man for her, in case you both love each other enough to want to marry. I would recommend not dating her for at least a year or two.

The other thing is that she doesn't really know you well right now. How can she have anything but interest right now. Friends can turn into something more with time and knowing someone better. My bf and I are a perfect example of that.

And as Revenwyn said it's probably best not to get serious with someone until you're in a position to be thinking about marriage. There's no way I could stand dating for years. Too much temptation.

Be a consistent friend to her. Don't push your feelings on her. Two of my closest friends are two guys that I had crushes on when I was younger. One liked me back alot. But we never talked about going out or anything like that. Neither of us was ready, but we became very close. Same with the other one. When I started going out with my boyfriend, they both got insanely jealous (They were never jealous of each other...I dunno why though...) and really disliked him. But now all three of them get along wonderfully. It could turn into something or it could just fizzle out. But being her friend, you will be able to tell and then make an educated desicion based on your friendship and with prayer on what you should do from there.

First my disclaimer, I do not believe in dating, I do not believe a couple should move beyond friendship until they are emtionally and physically able to continue on into marriage.

That said, this could happen at any age. My husband was 19 and I was 18 when we got married. My advice was continue the friendship, and pray. Pray for God to reveal to you if this is the right one, pray that He will open the doors to move this relationship in the right directions.

Friendship first.

My darling fiance, liked me since he was 16, the day he saw me (not met me, saw me).. just 16 and he's now 20.5 That by my maths is 4.5 years. we've been together a year and it's had some serious ups and downs, but has survived. Me? I didn't like him enough til a year ago, loved him in some ways for about 6 months before that, and best friends for about 3+ years of that, but nope, we sure weren't together. Have patience, and let god shape your heart. Your desire for this girl may be matched by God's will for you to be with her, single for a while, single forever, or attached to someone else...
