Since I’ve become a Christian (an Conservative Evangelical mind you), I’ve been wondering to get rid of a lot of my secular music collection. Because I feel it promotes themes Christianity condemns. Instead I just listen to the Christian music I enjoy and secular music which promotes Christian friendly themes.

I am not saying all secular music is sinful, however some of it promotes positively things like idolatry, adultery, drunkenness, homosexuality, transvestitism, etc. Which god in the bible says is sinful behavior.

[FONT=&quot]This is a selection of bands, which are in my collection if you are wondering, Bjork, David Bowie, Bloc Party, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Muse, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead.

This same moral dilemma is influencing in what sort of films and television programs I watch now.

There's no definitive answer here - some Christians are fine with listening to secular music while others aren't. So it really comes down to a personal conviction, and if you truly believe that's the way to go for you then maybe you should do it.

However, if you are going to get rid of your secular music then maybe it's best to get rid of it completely and not just keep those that have "Christian friendly" themes. It's all too easy to go from Christian friendly themes to most songs having Christian friendly themes to some songs having Christian friendly themes, and then you're back where you started.

I did this once before, but, could not stand listening to strictly Christian music all the time. So, I would say that it is totally up to you. I listen to the music for the beats, and, not to imitate the singer. So, if you are wanting to imitate them, then get rid of it. But, obviously you got those artists because you like them. So, do what you please. But, remember that if you do get rid of this stuff, you cannot go back on your deision. So, think about it clearly, and, pray hard about it, and, let go, and, let GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting back into Christian music. I was thinking about donating my cds that I have to the Salvation Army here, but, then thought I better not, cause GOD would want me to listen to music directed at HIM, and, His Son. So, I am keeping my Christian cds that I have, and, will listen to them only, and, I do mean only when I am in prayer, and, reading the bible, or, if I want to have something to lift my spirits up.
