Hello,
I am looking to study some on responsibility and work. I am going through something right now, decision of changing jobs, and it would require more responsibility on my part because I work at home, and I have 2 young children, but the job would give me more experience and also more money. I am praying about it but want to study on this as well. My current jobs "allows" me to be more lazy and less responsible and they are more lenient but I have been praying for more energy and responsiblity adn want to make sure I make the right decision.:groupray:

THank you
Kim

It appears that you already have your hands full...

Why would you seek to add more to that?

Perhaps the work that you ought to be seeking to do is the redemptive work of God. In other words, why not start up a study group, get to know other SDAs, and share Jesus with each other...

"Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength" (Ecc 9:10 HCSB)

I think you have brought out a good point to me. I have read Ecc 9:10. It was great. I have some praying to do now, because I accepted the job more on a whim yesterday afternoon and now I am second guessing myself. I am glad I can come here for support. If you have any other scriptures let me know.

Kim :)

If you have young kids and won't be able now to be at home with them I think this is a huge mistake. Taking care of kids is not laziness. Nor is the privilege to be with them something to give up for more money, etc. The time they spend with someone else taking care of them can never be recovered. This is your time to make a MORAL impression on them that will last a lifetime.

As Woobadooba mentioned, if you want more challenges to life, evangelism,, Bible study, etc. WITH YOUR KIDS will do wonders for both of you.

If I totally misread your situation I apologize. This is my take on the situation as I see it though.

Scriptures:

Not the most popular text in the world, but still the advice of the apostle:

Titus 2:3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

Another one dealing with kids. Helping kids develop their moral character is a full time job!

DT 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Okay you are close, I work from home doing medical transcription. I work for a local company now who is more lenient in the way my work is and when I get it back to him, I work when the kids go to bed at night, when one is napping and the other is in school or I wake up before them to work. So I am with them when they are awake, but my thing is that this new job offer is an online company, they expect a LOT more out of me, pay almost double what I am making now...but I would have to be more responsible on the job and I would not be able to say, Oh boss the kids were rough today and I did not quite finish all my work but I will get it to you tomorrow, type thing. So I am thinking as I am writing this that I basically answered my own question, I should probably stick with the job that makes me be more available to my kids, physically but more importantly mentally/spiritually. So thanks for the great words...if anyone has scripture for me to study about this please do share! I am learning more and more how to get better at studying!

Hope you guys have a great rest of the Sabbath!

Have a wonderful weekend
Kim
