need prayers

Not sure if this is the right spot,
But it seems right.

My Dad just found out before Christmas he has non-operable Lung cancer. He isn't to positive about chemo/radiation.
He hasn't been able to speak to an Oncologist yet.
Due to the holidays.
We have kept it from our daughters, until we know what
we ned to know.
One daughter's class helped a family whos father is dying of lung cancer, and didn't want to spoil CHristmas with worry.
Hopefully, he will see an oncologist soon, I hate keeping secrets this intense from our girls. The few family(my side) members we have near us, have the potential to
let this secret slip.

I have had my church start a prayer chain without
our name, to keep it from getting back to the girls.

It's been a long month(found out about 30days ago)

Yeah, you are in the right place brother and my heart goes out to you. I am sorry to hear your dad has cancer. I understand why you withheld it from your children through the holidays but I wouldn't withhold it very long. Because they will see him getting sicker and it could cause an anger issue for them to deal with on top of grieving. Plus they will know you are upset over something no matter how hard you try to hide it.

I don't know how long they gave your dad but it sounds like you could have a few rough months ahead of you as he gets more dependant on those around him. That is what we are here for brother. Not many post in here anymore though so if you want feel free to add me to your friends list and you can PM me anytime if you feel more comfortable. I know the struggles of taking care of a dad through illness all to well. I took care of my dad for years before the Lord called him home in 2003. So I have been where you are at. My prayers are with you....Rob

They said its slow growing,
8-10yrs without treatment.

The girls talk to him regularly, but he lives in Arizona, and we live in Ohio. So they won't see him.

I had planned on telling them after we knew if chem/radiation was going to help, but Dr's have cancelled appointments twice now.
The big consern is that my Aunts and Uncles live near us, and we don't see them often, but they all know.
So if we meet them out somewhere they might let the secret go.
The hardest part of this is not telling them.
I have started a blog, to express my feelings that I can't really say at home.
My brother will be the one to take care of my Dad, if it comes down to that. He lives near him. I am the child that didn't move home after the military. But I am also the family man.
Will check back when I get more information.
