  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am five weeks pregnant, but this afternoon I started getting stomach cramps, and just now I've started lightly bleeding. I know that this can be normal, but I'm really worried about it, and I've been praying, but any extra prayers would be greatly appreciated. I have a doctors appointment for tomorrow, hopefully it all goes well. Thank you all in advance.

God Bless.

Thanks guys.

I went to the doctor, and he didn't seem too worried about it, which made me feel a bit better. I'll feel even better again when I get the results of my blood test back, and hopefully it will show a normal level of pregnancy hormones. I didn't bleed all of the next day, but last night I bled a little, but lighter than last time. I was just so freaked out because I didn't bleed when I was pregnant with Isabel, and we'd been wanting another baby for so long. Thanks again.

I think that it is completely normal. Your uterus will be changing size and a bit of bleeeding is also normal due to implantation. I bled in every one of my pregnancies. I have also had 3 miscarriages and a stillbirth also, but what you are describing doesn't sound like a miscariage or an impending miscarriage.

I bled profusely throughout my second trimester with my son and know all too well, bleeding happens. You can check out www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com (our stories) and read numerous stories of women who bled and were just fine.

Be prepared if those hcg's do not double. Sometimes with bleeding there is loss of a multiple (very common but most women don't realize it). If so, hcg's will often plateau and for some women even decline for awhile. Sometimes the u/s won't even catch the remaining sack until the woman is 8 or 9 weeks or even more but I've talked to a number of women who have had this happen.

Also, keep in mind, after hcg's reach 6,000 they can easily take 4 or more days to double and this can be quite normal.

Also, sex, a bowel movement or any type of vaginal exam can cause spotting.

Just wanted to give you a little info because I talk to numerous women every week who are scared unnecessarily by their doctors.

I'll be praying. Having bled and been told in two pregnancies I was definitely miscarrying (I didn't), I understand the fear but God is in control of this little life.

Thank you all so, so much for your posts, guys, I am feeling a lot better about the whole thing now. I was probably overreacting, but, as I mentioned, I never bled with Isabel, so immediately became paranoid. Plus, on a baby forum I visit, two of the other ladies due in August 2006 just miscarried, so it got me worrying. I'm a born worrier, I suppose. It seems too good to be true. My heart knows it's a blessing; I mean, I have PCOS, and have managed to get pregnant twice with no medication. But my brain insists on overanalysing everything.

did they say anything about an ultrasound?
Lexi

No, no ultrasound.

Thank you, OreGal, for the info and the link, I will check it out.

Thanks again, you're all wonderful.

God Bless.

Just a quick update. I'm now in my sixth week. I've been bleeding on and off (very lightly), and am still getting slight stomach cramps. I took another HPT, and it is still positive, but it didn't appear as quickly, and the line wasn't as dark as the one I took a week previously (both were done first thing in the morning). Is this significant, do you think, or does this kind of thing vary from test to test?

On the whole, I'm not too worried. My blood test results came back fine, since he didn't specifically mention them, I assume my HCG's were normal too. I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday.

I had a really weird dream last night, that his baby was a boy, and that he was born a super-genius, could talk as a newborn, and was trying to take over the world. And he tried to bite my cheek. Hmmm, one of those odd pregnancy dreams :) I'm sure I had heaps of them with Isabel.

With my last pregnancy, I bled three times, when I would have had a period, only it was much lighter. With this one, I bled slightly when I would have had my period once.

If you still have some symptoms, an ultrasound is a good idea. Not only can it confirm the baby's status more accurately, but it can also check for possible placenta problems that could cause spotting or bleeding, and can be very dangerous if undetected.

Thanks for replying, Christina :)

I haven't had any bleeding since my last post, and morning sickness has kicked in, which has made me feel a bit better (obviously not physically better, but it's kind of comforting to know that my body is starting to act like it did when I was pregnant with Isabel).

I went to the doctors on Wednesday, everything is fine. I am seven weeks now, and go for an ultrasound at nine weeks. I am really looking forward to that, then I'll know how everything is going. It's exciting too, because with Isabel I went completely through a hospital, so didn't get an ultrasound until I was 20 weeks. But this doctor has an arrangement with a local medical imaging place that his patients get bulk billed (meaning medicare pays for it). Yay!

Thats so great. I'm now in my 7th week myself. I just ha a scare last night, I got really bad cramps but no bleeding. With my last pregnancy I never had any cramping or bleeding, well only at the time when my af was supposed to come.
The cramping stopped after a few hours. I layed on my left side all night till today. I was all worried something was wrong.
My next appt is on Wednesday so I'm hoping everything is fine.

Rakkoon, hang in there. I had terrible cramping with my second and everything ended up just fine. Coupled with the fact that they couldn't find the baby, they were sure I was miscarrying. They were wrong. I'll be praying for you though. I remember all too well how scared I was.

Thanks everyone,
I go for my first appt with Ultrasound tomarrow. I'm sort of worried about it. I haven't had any cramping or bleeding since last week.
I don't know if anyone has gone through this but today I'm hardly having any symptoms (or at least I'm not noticing it), I'm starting to wonder if I MC'ed. My breasts are still sore and I feel very tired.
I guess the reason I worry so much is that 5 years ago I had a missed miscarriage, I still felt pregnant the day I had the D & C done. I MC'ed at 8 weeks, I found out on my 9th week.
Please pray that all is well at my visit tomarrow.
