I've got people who make fun of me for being fat all the time, and they seem to think that acting like a bunch of idiots is cool. The second part I can always either shrug off or something, but the first part really hurts. How can I get them to stop?

Stand your ground and tell them to stop being jerks. Tell them they need to leave you alone and that you are working on yourself. Are these people in middle school, shheessh?!!!

if they live with you, it may be time to find a new place to live. Or if you hold the lease find some new roommates.

Well...I'm not sure if I have any good advice or not...but I can tell you what I do with superficial idiots like that:
I ignore them.
I know how I earned all my extra fluffiness...I survived cancer...chemo has a way of destroying metabolisms...funny how that works...so each extra pound I have...I wear rather proudly...
So when it comes to jerks who like to make fat jokes...I ignore them...and if the environment allows...if anything I show it off more (I can be a bit of a smart aleck even at my age )
And just as there are men who don't like the uber skinny girlie stick figure that's so popular right now...there are women who rather appreciate something more than skin and bones on their man...

How can you get them to stop? Show them how great their faces would feel with your fist in it.
I can say from experience if you stand up for yourself, people won't give you any more problems. At least it worked that way for me.

When I was in elemetary school I was a chubby kid, I'd get a lot of teasing. One kid really made me mad and I told him "Look buddy, I can go on a diet if I want. You can't do anything about your ugly face and terrible personality." After that he left me alone about it.
Second of all some of the coolest girls I have dated were plus sized. I know thats random but as Gwenyfur was saying, I am sure that there are girls that think that way about guys.

I don't know, are you really that fat in the first place? What do these guys look like?
How much are they really making fun of you for it? Maybe you should just throw in the towel and just stop caring what they think. Accept who you are and just focus more on things that make you happy. Find/create new ways to like/be proud of yourself. The whole "teasing scene" is pretty much lame an uninspired anyways.
There are just some people who get mad fun of who sadly just can't win, the person making fun of them really does pretty much have it all, and you can tell them they act like a 5th grader who is stupid or whatever, but it doesn't really matter and not necessarily always true the way you want to see it.

But seriously if the people you live/hang out with aren't nice people, then maybe consider re-locating. It's not right, you shouldn't have to leave becuase of a few jerks but if it makes life easier you'd be silly not to. There's some really nice people out in the world, if you got lucky and got a sharehouse/dorm with the right type of people you'd be laughing. You seem like a nice guy that trys to put in effort, I'm sure there's people out there that would love to share a house with you. I don't know your situation, so hopefully what I said can be associated with your particular issue. I've never lived with anyone other than my family (mum and dad really, siblings moved out years ago) so I don't really know what it's like, but you don't have to put up with it. Is it like a boys only dorm? If you can, find a place with the majority girls.. boys are tossers lol
I am lucky I've never had an issue with critisism.. it can really affect some people. I'm not very sensative.

I agree. This is why I don't live with people I'm friends with. And I never try to get closer to people I live with. Problems within friendships get so much more complicated and exaggerated if you have to share a home...
