First let me start by ging a bit of history.
I was born and raised in the Catholic faith. Quite active in my faith in my early adult years. I married another Catholic and we started out raising our kids Catholic. Both of our children have been baptized as Catholics. After 30 years in the Catholic church my wife and I left about 4 years ago. We have since both been baptized outside of the Catholic church.
OK. I am very frustrated with Protestant churches. There seems to be a ton of false teachings like OSAS, baptisms role, etc. In my bible studies I find absolutely no evidence of these teachings and when you study the ECF they do not speak of these teachings either. I can only conclude that they are mondern man-made make feel good teachings. There also seems to be a complete and utter lack of knowledge of Christian history. The constant interpretation differences between Protestant denominations is quite frustrating and I am beginning to feel lost.
Now with all this said there are reasons I left the Catholic church. First and foremost and I cannot resolve the authority of the Pope, not in Scripture and not within the first couple of hundred years of the church.
Can someone direct me to scripture and to some early writings on the Pope and his authority?
