• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is no miracle way to quit. The solution is that you have to WANT to quit. Until you are sick and tired of that nasty stuff you will not quit. Giving up nicotine in any form is not an easy process but if you are willing to go to any length to quit, YOU CAN. I quit smoking over 3 and 1/2 years ago and it was the hardest thing that I ever had to do in my life. I quit and started back soooo many times that I didn't think that I would ever succeed. I was not able to succeed until I surrendered this addiction to God on a daily basis. I needed his help through it all or I could not have done it. May the Lord be with you through your struggles to put this addiction to rest. Just don't ever give up trying to quit, one day you WILL succeed...May God bless you...

Have you tried using Nicorette gum, or possibly the Commit lozenge to help you quit?

My eldest brother quit dipping by replacing his 'dip' with the mint-flavored lozenges. Since you can slip the lozenge between your teeth and lip, it gives that feeling that "something's there", plus you get that nicotine fix. As you lower your dosage, you should be able to kick the habit.

You won't be able to do it, though, if you're not totally committed to quitting. I tried quitting cigarettes at the behest of my hubby, but there has to be a firm commitment in you to stop.
