  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a friend who has deceived others into believing I have done things that are blatantly false. I love this person and she is a dear friend of mine. I really am at a loss as to what to do...I now have the mistrust of several members of my church although many stand by my innocence, knowing me well enough to see I am not as I have been portrayed.

I have prayed and prayed about this and it's concerning me, not for my reputations sake but because it shows obvious duplicity in my friend.

Can anyone share how I can mend bridges as I am not comfortable asking her back into my home as things stand. She has a mental disability which could have been a contributing factor.

doesn't sound like a very good friend. I would pray for her and just be careful around her, especially if she is unrepentant.

maybe talking on the phone is helpful, following Matthew 18:15 (in spirit if not in letter), talk to her privately, or maybe with some witnesses other friends with you, etc. if she totally is seen as not friendly, I would back away from her after that, not treat her like an enemy, but as one in need of salvation

Why should you carry a load you didn't create???

Forgive her and move on as if it never happened. Mark it up as helping the mentally disabled.

Might as well get a BLESSING out of it!!!

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then acting ( COMMITING ) upon that which you have accepted.

Sorry to hear about that I have been in your shoes unfortunately... too!:(

Mental illness is to be blamed in most cases and/or maliciousness.

Please know you are in my prayers. May God heal that individual and help you seek comofort in knowing IT IS NOT YOUR DOING and shake away your guilt. :liturgy:

God bless,
Philothei:bow:

I would give you rep if I could... Thanks for giving purpose to suffering, not that I believe otherwise but the way you made your point makes a lot of sense.

Philothei:)
