  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wooohooo, choosing colleges. I don't envy you. That was one of the hardest things for me to do. Then again, maybe you are lliking the process, so hey.

Anyway,I've never heard of Messiah, but a friend of mine almost went to Geneva, she was in love with it, but ended up picking a college in OH becuase its closer to home. She doesn't like the college she chose and wishes she would have went elsewhere. Not trying to say pick Geneva...I highly suggest praying about it and see where the Lord leads you. Also something that always has helped me - make a list of pros and cons for each school. Then throw them out and follow your heart. Don't know why, but it always seems to help me.

They both seem the same pretty much, main difference is distance from home, Geneva is farther away so I don't have to see my family which is a pro, and Messiah is closer, so I get to see my family which is a pro, yes it's both good and bad to get away from them, nope I'm never confused ever.

I know what you mean about both getting to see them and not getting to see them. I wish I could simply tell you what to do, but then again no I don't because then you wouldn't learn, and most of all you wouldn't get to utilize your savior's help on this one. I know you'll figure it out and the choice will be the right one. Remember to not let it stress you out too much and have some fun with it.

My friends are closer to me than my family, but then again I call them all my brothers and sisters, so they're exactly like family and I think of a few as such, and I care about them as such, but my actual family, there is no reason to care about them.

Geneva is 2 hours away, Messiah 45 mins, and I could get a place halfway between either of them lol so yeah. And I hate my family for the most part, and yes I know what hate is, and I choose it.

That adds a whole different level of emotion to the question. In reality neither is really far from home and both are an easy drive a day trip. Although I live 1.5 hours from home and my parents have never come out to visit me in 3.5 years. In HS i was having major parent issues and choose a school farther away just to get some distance.

If the colleges are about the same check out the local town. Its where you will be calling home for the next 4 years so you might as well like it. Make you sure like the environment there.

I have a few friends at Geneva, and they seem to be liking it a lot. I don't know anybody who actually went to Messiah...but I'm sure it's a pretty good school. It probably depends mostly on what you want in a school. Once you figure that out it shouldn't be too difficult. We already established that distance from home is not an issue. If you know what you want to major in, I would recommend looking into the quality of the major at both school. I would also recommend looking at what the social life at both schools is, if you haven't already, and decide which one would be a better fit for you. If you haven't and you have the chance, visit both schools.

(and btw, I live 11 hours away from home and LOVE IT!!!)
