Hello everyone,

I have a question, Adam and Eve gave birth to Cain and Able. How did life go on from then? Did God allow incest so there could be life? What happened? And does anyone know where I can get the Gospel of Nicodemus, Apocalyspe of Peter, Infancy of Jesus according to Thomas and the Gospel of Mary??

They are symbolic, not real people, so it's not an issue.

Did God allow incest so there could be life? What happened? And does anyone know where I can get the Gospel of Nicodemus, Apocalyspe of Peter, Infancy of Jesus according to Thomas and the Gospel of Mary??

Most of these should be much more easily found on-line than in print (at least, the parts that survive) if you actually want to read them.

Incest in the present makes birth defects because of defective genes. it's most likely that 2 ppl unrelated don't have the same defective genes to pass on to their kid. the closer the relationship the higher that chance becomes. the argument is that Adam and Eve were perfect and wouldn't have had any defective genes to pass on. only in the multitude of copying errors since that time has incest been a problem.
But ya, they are fictional ppl. Genesis 1-6 is just allegory.

Back then, the gene pool was different. Their lines were pure. Only down the line when we became more and more corrupted was did birth defects take place. Even in King David's time, they liked to keep it "in the family." They would marry their own cousins and not think anything of it. I'm going to be really mean here and ask, "Why don't you read the text?" It specifically states that Cain killed Abel, then found his wife as he wandered in the wilderness. It's possible God created more than just two people or there's a chapter of Genesis missing.

In some cultures, incest was required for monarchs--to keep the monarchy in the family. For example, typically a future Pharoah of Egypt married his sister to secure his claim to the throne.

I have heard the chieftains of Aotareoa (now New Zealand) followed a similar practice.
