  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

having a little OSAS discussion. I already know the usual OSNAS verses [ignored or waved away, of course  ], but to deliver a killing blow I need help finding a clear refutation or explanation of any or all the following verses:

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38

"My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." John 10:29

"He that believeth on the Son HATH EVERLASTING LIFE:.. ." John 3:36

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE,. . ." 1 John 5:13

Thanks in advance. :)

I know this probably isn't the in depth answet you're looking for, but: Nowhere does it say that we cannot reject God. He will still love us, nothing can change that. But we can stop loving Him. Love is a 2 way street. If someone wants to run away from God they have the free will to do so. Think of the story of the prodigal son. He could have never returned. But God would still be at the top of the hill waiting for him.

Baptism.

These verses refer to those who are baptized and born again. Once you have been baptized and you have had original sin removed, the thing that made salvation impossible before. You can never lose that justification to be in God’s family again. You can however leave God’s family through willful mortal sin if you choose. Insert “prodigal son” story here.

As far as believing is concerned, even the demons believe. Believing means to actually believe and not just say you do by keep the commandments as Jesus said. Those who say "lord, lord" will not enter. He will say depart, I never knew you.

thanks guys!

PS, i've tried several versions of your answer, and it is ignored, but "Love is a 2 way street" might work.

Acceptance, that's a good one!

Shelb5, thanks for the baptism insight, I haven't thought of that. Once, those verses are out of the way, I should be able to take out the rest of their defense.

Matt 7:15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. 21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Matthew 24 : 13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Rom 11:22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.

Phil 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

1 Cor 9:
26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

1 Corinthians 10: 11These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!

2 Tim 2: 11 Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; 13 if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.

Hebrews 6:4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because[1] to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Heb 10: 26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

THANKS TO KENNY FOR THESE CITATIONS

That is a good one that ps139 posted. About nobody plucking anyone from God's hand: that doesn't mean that no one can jump off God's hand. We remain free.
