Hmmm... Timothy made quite a sacrifice (circumcision - ow) where he could have claimed freedom in Christ. Paul, in his letters, frequently referred to the idea that it was NOT necessary for new christians to be circumcised.

How can this relate to marriage? All sorts of ways... but basically, giving up a freedom (eg. drinking alcohol) for the good of a spouse strikes me as being the main idea.

Whatcha think?

I think that was their form of i.d. , back then.

Marriage is beautiful between two people who BOTH truly love each other (it lasts until one of them dies).

I think it may be about sacrifice... willingness to sacrifice. If you look at this verse from the perspective of Timothy - he allowed himself to be circumcised in order to follow Paul. Not only was this painful, I'm sure, but it went against his father's beliefs. He gave up a lot to follow Paul and, therefore, to follow Christ. Marriage is also a great sacrifice, as we give of ourselves to our spouse.

We can't put men of piety into the holy ministry that are not qualified. Timothy had all the qualification except circumcision which was rectified. Timothy did this so he could preach to the Jews. I don't see how this verse applies to marriage.

The Ministry spoken of in the bible, was before the bible was written. I heed the words of Christ, when He said: "One is to be your teacher, and that is God."

Considering how we're warned of false teachings to spread like leaven, why not learn from Him alone? Are words of Apostles not good enough? Apostles had signs and wonders following them, to declare that one could listen to them.

hello !
Actually i am unmarried.praying to the lord for helping me to identify the right women. It was then that lord revealed prophetically Acts 16:3 to another person.
-----------
This was how i took it, since it was revealed for marriage.
"paul wanting to take timothy"
"Take" referes to "taking-along" for marriage life. I took Timothy as a female because of marriage context.Jew and Greek needs to be taken as Christan and Non Christian.Circumcision needs to be taken as Baptism.
So this verse referes 2 things.
[1]The girl(Timothy symbolically) would be a believer who is yet to be baptised.
[2]The girl's father is a non chritian.

So, are these above 2,clues for me to identify the right women?
This is the interpretation i took it as,since this was revealed for marriage.

Kindly comment on this.thanx !

BE VERY CAREFUL when it comes to interpreting prophecy so minutely. Most people who attempted it throughout history came to grief because they made too many assumptions, and put too much emphasis on the wrong bits. Keep an open mind, ask God to reveal the truth of it if and when he will... and don't check out every girl to see if you can 'fit' her into the prophecy, eh? :) And take note of the opinions offered... one of THOSE might be the right interpretation. Or maybe God's telling you you'll have to go through a symbolic circumcision before you'll even meet the right girl.

I would question why God would need to tell you something through a bizzare-symbolic-interpretation, from someone else, of a vision given to yet another person.

Any thoughts?

Good question.

The verse could also mean that her father will be Greek. It could mean that you are to go on a journey... God can and will speak to us through scripture and through other people and both at once, but usually when God speaks to us it is very clear what He is saying.
