How are you today my brothers and sisters in Christ. Im about to start a christian book and need some information on publishing companies. I'm looking for a cheap company but also legit at the same time. If any of you know how to self publish and can give me some feed backs, I would kindly appreciate it. Im not rich, so I'm looking for the best deal or opportunity I can get.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The two biggest are probably Xulon and Westbow Press. Both have good promotion and distribution networks and resources. Xulon is cheaper, but Westbow turns out a more pleasing product in my opinion.
My own research has led me to choose Westbow press. I might add they are a division of Thomas Nelson.

I just published with createspace, I am thrilled with the results. Hope you like it too.

Either Lightening Source or Createspace are okay for paperbacks. Amazon (Kindle publishing) is okay for an eBook. But be aware that there are hundreds or thousands of books being published each year and, unless you are a famous celebrity or author, your chances of success are small. But, if you love to write, don't let that stop you.

I don't know about Westbow, but my second book was with Xulon. They are overpriced. All the promotion services sound good but really don't do much good for a no-name. If you are a celebrity, they might be good.
I haven't compared for awhile but check price with Lightning Source, Lulu, Author House, and Amazon has there own now. Find the best price.
If others are like xulon, they will keep trying to sell you things like listing in catalogs, and at trade shows etc. The odds of it working are like winning the lottery. They make money and you lose money.

According to Bowker, the number of print books published in 2011 was between 250,000 and 300,000. Of these about 150,000 were "self-published." Over 87,000 ebooks were published. These numbers do not include those books without ISBN numbers (e.g., Kindle). In other words, unless you are a recognized genius such as a Justin Bieber or a Kardashian, your book is up against enormous odds.
That's why so many go unpublished, or self-publish, or pay a firm to publish their book --- and, if you pay them anything, you are not technically self-publishing. Instead you are subsidy publishing (a different way of saying vanity publishing). If you self or subsidy publish, your odds of success are only slightly better than winning the Powerball lottery. Most magazines, literary outlets don't even consider reviewing a self-published book. Some of the reviewers that will consider your book ask for a few like-new copies. You'll soon discover that those copies now appear for sale on your Amazon page - at a price that undercuts your book.
I'm not saying that you should give up; but you should be realistic - and careful.
