  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi,
I have recently become very "distracted" from my faith. I never felt very much a part of church as a child and now, in my second year of college, I have noticed that the distance has really increased. When I visit my parents at home, I usually feel awkward and hypocritical if I go to church and basically just go through the motions.
I am scientific and a liberal thinker and have been turned off by some Christian views. I want to make this faith fit with my logical thinking.
Is there anything anyone can say about this? I've been trying to read the Bible and have bought a few books on faith, but nothing is still "clicking".
Thank you for your help and your time.

Sounds like a season of dryness for me. During times like this I ask God to ignite passion in my life, Break my heart where it has become hardened, and for humility to receive His instruction where I tend to ignore it. Hope that helps.

Hi dear!

You know, the world says "You have to see it to believe it." Faith says, "Believe and you will see it." Logic, common sense, emotions, all those things are from God... but sometimes when we don't know how to use them the way we should, those can control us and eventually destroy us...

Most of my bestfriends are the logical type too, they want to rationalize things... but I remember one of them saying, "It's now that I realized that when it comes to faith in God, things can't always be logical." You see, as believers of God, we don't walk by faith but of sight. God is not a matter of this world, He is GOD.. therefore He is someone that even logic or rational thinking won't fully comprehend, not even emotions or feelings will do.

Faith is partly a choice, but a GREATER part of it is His GRACE. Ask Him for the grace to remain faithful to Him even when things are not making sense. Ask Him to open your heart, your mind and your eyes to the TRUTH that He is...

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 God always looks at the condition of our hearts, if you are longing for Him, if you are thirsty for Him... He will be there and even if you're not.. He is just there. Always waiting for us...

You see God will not force Himself to you but He also won't turn His back on you.. when you feel that He is far away from you, you gotta ask yourself, "Who moved?" because God wouldn't. He promised to never leave us or forsake us. All you have to do is call on Him... He is always waiting with open arms.

God isn't human so we can't really compare our minds towards other people to Him. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" Isaiah 55:9 :amen:

I always say, the more you grow with your relationship with God, the more you'll know Him and the more you know Him, the more you'll love HIM..... it is when you understand of this love and when you learn to have a genuine relationship with Him that things take a turnaround!

Hang on to that faith, no matter how small it might seem to you. God will work on it! ;)
