  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all, Me and Kristi are coming up on 1 year as a couple, w00t! Thats right, me and her will have been dating for 1 year next month. The longest relationship i've even been in. So, heres my question: What is something really, really awesome i could get her? I usually stink at getting gifts, and i dont want to wait for the last minute to get her something or it will be really stupid. Any ideas would help. I thought about getting her a card and flowers, but i'd like to get her something else that she should keep. She's not that big on jewelery, and i'm at a lost. Plz, i'd like some ideas. thanks in advance. :)

What we did on our first anniversary of dating was we re-created our first date. Shopped at the same mall, got ice cream at the same place etc. (then he proposed to me before heading home--but you don't have to feel pressure there:D)

I like the idea of a day out somewhere too.

well...we're not ready to get married, we don't plan on it until sometime during or after...we're leaning more towards after, college. And here mom will probably put a time limit of 4-5 hours....well, she could cut some slack there since it's our 1-yr. but i like the idea of re-creating the first date....except for we went to the movies and...well we do that quite often.

Something significant. My hubby bought me a star (a real star) for our first Christmas from the International Star Registry because the first night we met, we were camping and sat up all night talking laying on the pier looking up at the stars. I guess that's kind of like recreating the first date. Try to remember something that ya'll did that was special and get her something to remind her of it. The photo album was a good idea too! Good luck and let us know what you end up doing and her reaction.

yeah, I bought my wife a star too. She loved it. My wife always talks about our first (dating) anniversary. It started off with breakfast (at her parents place), then I surprised her and took her out of the city for a tour of a country art gallery. Then I took her to a greenhouse and bought her a plant that she picked out. Then we made supper together and watched a movie. It's funny cuz when asked about the best gift she's ever received from me, that's the one, our day together. Not the $1000 snowboard package, not the engagement ring, but time spent together.

That would be my favorite thing too. I can recall one of the best times I had with my hubby and that was while he was at work babysitting a system he had put in at a hospital. I went to have lunch with him and was there several hours. We talked and I watched him fix a couple of problems but for the most part we were just there with eachother. It was great!

First of all, Congratulations!!!

I don't know about you but my gifts have ALWAYS been limited monitarily... Here are a few ideas I've had!

A Coupon Book (Foot Rub, Back Rub, Walk in the Park)

Pack a picnic, complete with that "Non Alcoholic" Champagne (Grape juice with carbonation) and have a romantic dinner in the park!

Grab your parents Camcorder and run around shooting a video of your year! Go to the place you met, your first date, things like that... and read her a poem or something at each location...then watch the video with her

make her a "First Year" scrap book! (I did this for Ryan and he loved it!)
