My sons have made a request. They want to play a two-player game where they aren't enemies. We own or have access to most game systems of the past few decades, but a CD Rom game would be great as they also have their own computer. Any suggestion for a game where they can play at the same time but not have to fight each other?

Considering their ages, I would probably recommend the Backyard Sports series of games. Your kids might enjoy it and they should be age appropriate.

Have a blessed day - K'pelli

Most racing or sports games (like football, baseball, etc.) would be fine. Practically all of the Super Mario games (even as far back as the NES) are 2-player, as are most of the Sonic The Hedgehog games (even on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive, depending on where you live).

Well i juz got into pc gaming myself but i have tons of console games that are two player and plenty are non versus. I think concidering the age of your boys on the nintendo game cube 'super smash bros. melee' would be perfect for them because they can opt to team up together to fight against the computer. RPG wise the almost currently released 'final fantasy crystal cronicles' is an excellent team up game which has the same feel (almost) of a MMORPG and its quite easy to play. I play it all the time with my little brothers (age 9 and 16). Speaking of MMORPG if you have two computers and willing to dish out 10 bucks a month (or 80 bucks if you pay annually) you can download for free 'disney's toontown' and they can join together along with many other players to save toontown from the menacing robots known as the cogs. very age aproprate concidering it is disney ya know.

Metal SLug 3 for Xbox. This is so awesome and made to resemble the older games from when I was a kid. Well a younger kid at least. Anyway, they are 2 guys and they get powerups and its really simplistic

Of course there is always Halo PC where if you have 2 cd keys you can play online at the same time with eachother...or Xbox Halo co-op and that isnt really graphic. You shoot aliens...they fall down. that's about it...w00t

Kid Multiplayer co-op games, huh? Lesse....

PC
There's not a whole lot of PC games that play split-screen or hotseat anymore; most are network. Here's a few though.

Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - Turn-based strategy set in a fantasy world.
Worms Armageddon/World Party - Control a team of worms that blow each other up. Really quite comical.

GameCube
There's more kid-style games on the GC than any other system, mainly because kids are the focus for the big N.

Mario Kart Double Dash
Super Smash Bros. - Just play on team mode
The Backyard series of Sports games
NFL Blitz (any year)
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

And a couple of non-kid-games, but not neccessarily for adults only.

Need For Speed: Underground
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

I hope that helps some.. :)

Fusion Frenzy for Xbox has some great little mini games, but I'm not sure if there is a multiplayer co-op, i think there is, but the mini games are simple, steering press a and b type stuff, plus it's like an older kid game, ya know great graphics, sounds and all, i mean it looks like something a lot of work been put into, but it's not innapropriate at all. Again they might have co-op and might not. But it's a game worht looking into.
