  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

so today we got in a big argument about our faith, yea! I didnt think we had a problem but he endsup tellings me he dosent believe that god created the world or created people he said he dosent belive and old testimont..he said belives in jesus and in god I asked him why he said well I dont know..he dosent make sence at all..he is comparing christianity to politics he said we should be able to work this out just cause we belive different..i said this isnt fair because being a chirstians is a life style its not just like politics differences...he said its the same..he said he belives now in evolotion..and I should stop pushing my faith on to him, Im not trying to push anything Im trying to let him know how important is my faith. He got so mad that he hungup and said go find yourself another guy who will belive the same way..and that was it..

Im really hurt by all this..I feel like he changed and now trying to change me, I never changed with my belives and i told him from the start how important it was to me, and now he just flips on me..I want to be a good gf but how can I do it I just accept that he changed just like that?...and another thing is he admited he belived in evolotion from young age, so I said why did u say different when we met, he said well I changed because theres no prove whats in the bible is true...im so hurt..i think i might even give a christians a bad name after this....im so confused did i do the right thing to prove to him how important it really is to me, or i should of just gave in and accepted how he is and thats it.

To be honest, I think you're overreacting. A belief in theistic evolution does not preclude someone from living a Christian lifestyle or holding to the same moral standards as a creationist. Many Christian denominations are open to a non-literal interpretation of Genesis. It's not as if he converted to a different religion; in fact, his core beliefs may well remain unchanged.

Staying with someone while expecting them to "reform" to your liking is never a good idea. If having a partner who shares your opinion on creation is something you refuse to compromise on, then yes, you should find someone else who meets that requirement. Just keep in mind that people are constantly changing. What happens if you get married and then your husband changes his mind down the road?
