  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My stepmother and I found this kitten in a box and it was half dead. We are from va and the Hurricane Isabel hit our neighborhood last night. Well today we was out looking at any damages and we heard a cry from a kitten, and we was trying to look for it. My stepmother went up to the box that was in front of her and looked in and , was like go get a towel so that we could dry it off and she was trying to bring it back to life. So my question is what should we do with the kitten. Its slowly coming back to life though but im sure its needs its mother but its mother doesnt want to come around us. is there any advice you could give us????

If you've concluded that the mother is nowhere near, and the owner is unknown, and you've decided you don't want it, and you know no one else who would want a cat....(run-on sentence here)...the next thing to do is to take it to a shelter. Look up your local humane society and take it in to them.

Actually the mother is close by... but the baby doesnt want to eat from her. we are trying to feed it with a bottle.. he is eating a little bit... but he keep getting cold and he meows a lot but yet he doesn't want to eat anything. The owner of the cat is away and i wouldnt want to take it to a shelter with out her knowing about the kitten. we seem to think that the mother had it too early because it looks premature.

That's sad. What are you feeding it?

I guess if it were me I'd keep trying to get it to eat and I'd contact a vet ask and ask for advice on how to hand raise a kitten (I don't know if you've already done that or not). I wouldn't think a vet's fees would cost a lot of money in that situation. And though there's no guarantee that the owners would re-imburse the money I think I'd still call a vet.

I just have a soft spot for cats, I guess.

Thanks for all the helpful tips and all but i didnt get to check out the information you gave me yet. well last night a friend stayed the night and was help nursing back the kitten. it was doing a little bit better and was eating some, but i guess it didn't feel like eating because the poor fellow had to much in its itty bitty lungs. well last night i went to check on the kitten and it had died i think around 3 in the morning. I feel so sad i know that it didn't have much of a chance but i know God did what was right he knows what he is doing but like you i also have a soft spot for cats.
