Y'know I bet that they could implement technology for our safety in the way of traffic control. With a simple radio transmitter on the side of roads near speeding signs, cars could know and restrict speed. No more speeding! However, I really like the option of being able to go fast, that is, even to break the speed limit and therefore the laws. So this analogy made me think of what I am beginning to call "necessary evils" in the world today.
I am exploring different views from both camps. Pro life vs pro choice and such. I am pro - life but my views are beginning to change in the world today. I would never advocate abortion, although, I can see the evil being necessary. I'd like to explore the above mentioned analogy and put it into context or a different light -- using abortion. I think the argument shows one point of view but breaks down. One argument that it fails under is saying that I believe everyone should have the right to commit murder ect. Of course they don't, but I am talking beyond that. We all have free will, the right to choose whether we commit murder.
What sparked this was watching the news. Some woman that has 15 children on welfare has voiced her perspective, saying that the government, or rather we the people owe her. She thinks of herself as being entitled to welfare. Now this was a severe kick to the Pro - life camp. Although, I think abortion to be evil, I quickly said to my wife while listening to this woman in response that, if, I was the Judge (she was appearing before one for child neglect) that I would order her sterilized. But of course I know that there would be rights groups all over that. So should the Judge have the right... ?
Where does it all ever end? Should we all have the right to speed?
Anyhoot, thought to just share a musing.
