Agreed. I'm currently saving for a dual-core AMD64 to be the centerpiece of my next big project. I'll be saving for a while, though.

I've seen the Dual-Core Systems for under 1K

Go one for work, and had a few problems, with the one application, it was running Slower with it running on both Cores, then if we assigned it to a single core

Is there a way to have a program automataccly run on a single core ?

I have no idea. My future purchase is as much for experimentation as anything else. I've never worked with dual-core or dual-processor systems.

lol, it proberly won't take you to long to save up for the duel core as the tri core will be out fairly soon and that should lower the prices again!

I am going to start saving for the quad core athlon 64 chip which is due to be released in 2007! Hopefully by that time I will be able to afford it.

Oh, wow. Quad core? I really have to start reading up on this stuff again. Last I checked the dual-core cpus were the hot stuff.

I wonder if this is going to be a new trend. Instead of increasing clock speeds and cache sizes, they'll simply pack more processors onto one board.

Should be interesting, if nothing else.
