As far as Chris' post goes; I do link these thing to Israel. I know of a Jewish scholar, but is catholic (long story) who definitely believes there is a link. BUT, I think we need to put in perspective the parts that state the most expensive damage. Of course these things will be the most expensive ever, becuase the price of EVERYTHING has gone up. So it makes sense that these disasters were the "costliest". And that may need to applied in regards to the most houses destroyed. Because there are more houses in this day and age.
In regards to what you said Wiggs, I do not agree that G-d is getting in the way of our free will. He isn't making us do anything. These are warnings. He does not wish for any to perish or to be lost.
