  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a mixture of Cree (which is actually Ojibwe) and Saulteaux. My tribe, the 'First Nation' I actually belong to is said to be where many of tribes travelled to from all around us to meet; they uncovered a fairly large 'medicine wheel' made out of rocks where they all used to gather not too long ago - anyway, this all translates to it being some sort of sacred ground or something.

I don't really know that much about my own ethnicity and heritage (it's not that interesting to me), and being raised a Christian in the city away from even the urban Natives here kept me at a pretty large distance from even them lol when I did go visit family on the First Nation I'm from we'd only visit my Uncle and Grandpa (both pretty well off), and we'd just chill on their ranch and ride horses. They made sure we weren't allowed to hang out with all the other Natives as well.

That's neat! I find genealogy and ethnic backgrounds very interesting =) I wish my family had kept better records of our genealogy.

I'm quite a few different blends too, and not sure of all of them...not very much into genealogies.

:D

Interesting.

Like any large group of people there's a range of types, some good and some not...

But, I think I'd be curious why you were kept apart ?

That's cool, idk lol maybe I'm just not that interested in a lot of things; most things in the world are pretty fleeting - so I suppose keeping a record would be good for us in a way.

All I care to know about my genes is that the Lord has blessed them, because everybody in my family has some pretty heavy spiritual gifts, have been well served by the Holy Ghost; and so I kind of expect God to bless my seed rather heavily as well.

I've said this before, and lol somebody thought I was being conceited about it... but, I only look for a girl whom is worthy of such a seed. Forgive my bluntness here.

Well, it is interesting in a way...but Scripture warns about delving into it excessively, I think because, we are to establish our identity through Christ and being "born again", rather than through biological ties.

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. <-----> 1st Timothy 1:4

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
<-----> Colossians 3:9-11

Think the Mormons run a free genealogy search web site...which can be helpful...but the farther one goes back, the harder it is to substantiate...and they may use that function to draw folks in to their brand of theology...which as far as I can tell has some good, but also some serious flaws...not that my understanding is already perfect...but haven't settled on the questionable either...which allows for greater measure of yet learning, and being safe from the sin of presumption.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. <-----> Psalm 19:3

Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remains. <-----> John 9:41

Thanks, :) I don't really see any of those verses indicating it wrong. God told the Israelites to keep track of their tribes. The book of Numbers and 1 & 2 Chronicles have a lot of generations listed. But I do realize it can be a waste of time if there are better things to do like studying scriptures. I am very thankful that some of my family members did keep track of one of my backgrounds, they have accurate records going back to the late 1500s and I've found out some amazing things and encouraging stories that they left behind for their future generations. I just find it interesting, that's all :)

What can be wrong is if we think our biological ties define us more than our spiritual ones,

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
<-----> Philippians 3:1-8

But there can be good lessons and inspiring stories passed on too, so it's not all bad !

It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.:amen:

Good one !

Kinda fits with -

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. <-----> 1st Thessalonians 1:5

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 4:19+20

Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins.:)

Perhaps one of the most quoted/well known !

May fit with -

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
<-----> Galatians 6:1+2

I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should assuage your grief.
<-----> Job 16:4+5

When you were born, you cried
and the world rejoiced.
Live your life
so that when you die,
the world cries and you rejoice.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
<-----> Luke 2:10+11

Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. <-----> John 14:28

But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asks me, Whither goes thou?
But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart.

What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across
the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

And while I stood there
I saw more than I can tell,
and I understood more than I saw;
for I was seeing in a sacred manner
the shapes of things in the spirit,
and the shape of all shapes as they must
live together like one being.

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
A And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God has cleansed, that call not thou common.
This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools
and robs the spirit of its vision.
