Would not a definition of a miracle be the occurrence of something that scientific theories would consider to be impossible?
Scientifically impossible, yes, but not logically impossible. Jesus came to earth and ostensibly performed scientific impossibilities every day. I don't think any christians would deny the fact that God is not bound to work within the confines of science. As the Creator of natural laws we would expect Him to transcend them and have the ability to bypass them. The creation is no exception. If this is indeed the case, and creation was a miracle or series of miracles, then science is going to be handicapped as an investigational tool. This is a point I think christians miss as much as non-christians.
